Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a public health challenge with high prevalence globally and increasing annually. Untreated T2D can lead to serious and permanent complications on the body’s organs. Despite available treatment methods, adherence to self-care and treatment is often low, which corresponds to poor blood glucose control. It is therefore important to understand which factors affect adherence in adults with T2D. This is because the nurse has a central role in supporting people with diabetes in their self-care.
