    Abstract [en]

    With the proliferation of Internet, ERP systems like all the domains of Information Technology have known an important evolution. This final thesis project is a study about the evolution of ERP systems, more precisely about their migration to the Web giving birth to a new generation of systems: the Web-Based or Web-enabled ERP systems. This migration to the Web is justified by the difficulty of making possible the communication between partner’s legacy systems and the organizations’ ERP systems. A historical evolution of these systems is presented in order to understand the reasons that lead vendors to adopt the Web Service Technology. Based on different studies, the main technologies such as Web services, Service-Oriented Architecture and Web Application server are also presented. From an interpretative research approach mySAP ERP has been chosen as a case study. This Master’s thesis has been led into AIRBUS France Company within the framework of the SAP Customer Competence Center (SAPCCC) Web site project. The project is aimed at re-building the SAPCCC Web site. The new characteristic of the Web site is to make it accessible by all AIRBUS partners working with SAP applications. To make the Web site accessible by the partners from their own applications located on their own platforms the development has been done thanks to mySAP ERP which is an ERP using the Web service technology. Finally, this thesis presents a comparative study between traditional ERP systems and the new generation of Web-based ERP systems.

    Abstract [en]

    The company System Andersson is developing systems for controlling materials and production in industries. They want to add a new service, where parts of those systems are accessible through cell phones.

    In this paper we are investigating which technology are best suited for this kind of application. And then we describe how we are developing a prototype fort this application, based upon that technology. After investigating technologies such as Java ME, Microsoft Silverlight, and web applications we settled upon building the system as a web application, customized for a mobile environment.

    To build a web page which is readable by many different cell phones we use the markup-languages which are developed for cell phones. We put much effort in reading about the standards and recommendations for the mobile web, produced by the organizations W3C and OMA. It's also very important that one consider the limitations of cell phones, such as the small screens, their limited performance and their limited means of input and navigation. Finally we are very thorough in our testing on several cell phones created by different manufacturers and with different operating systems and web browsers.

    On the server we are running ASP.NET, with a database using Microsoft SQL Server, since this was a request from the company. The development is made in C#.

    We reach a fully operational application with the functions that the company has requested. We got functions for handling orders, changing jobs, supply management, listing employees, and more. We also got a class for generating and rendering of lists and tables for easy and customizable lists for small screens. The application has support for several users with a secure login function.

    We have also created a system running as a service in Microsoft Windows, which is regularly sending messages, in the form of e-mails to the users of the mobile application. The messages contain user defined reminders, e.g. that the factory is running low on a certain material. The message system is well integrated with the rest of the system, in which one can list the active reminders, edit them or create new ones.

    Overall this has been an interesting and successful project.

    Allting började med att jag fick i uppdrag av Euromaint Industry i Skövde att konstruera en alfanumerisk display i syfte att ersätta en utgången display som inte längre nytillverkas. Jag fick i uppdrag att välja ut en modern, lämplig grafisk display och bygga ett interface mellan den nya displayen och den industriella maskin som displayen skall sitta på. Efter att ha letat hos någraelektronikleverantörer kom jag fram till att en TFT-skärm från det japanska företaget Kyocera var den som passade bäst. Skärmen hade ett VGA-liknandeinterface och min uppgift blev att sätta mig in i hur VGA fungerar. Efter att ha konstaterat att det krävdes en snabbare krets än en microcontroller för att använda VGA, var det endast en programmerbar logikkrets, en FPGA, som gällde. Denna FPGA sköter nu ensam om såväl VGA-interfacet som inläsningen av informationen från den industriella NC-maskinen.

    Vem avgör vad som är bra användbarhet? Och hur lyckas man bibehålla det genom ett helt program? Dessa frågor och många fler ställdes när arbetet med utformningen av den nya designen startades. Meningen var att ta reda på vad som gäller idag och vad som är intressant för framtiden i frågan om användbarhet.

    Genom en grundlig analys av designen i programmet SEBS (System Economy Business System) tillsammans med ett flertal andra liknande program har flera problemområden identifierats och motiverats med hjälp av teorier från författare och ISO standarder (International Organisation for Standardization).

    Uppgiften har en ganska abstrakt natur och ger inte självmant upphov till gedigna praktikfall som lätt presenteras. Trots det blev ett nytt gränssnitt och nya riktlinjer framtagna och arbetssättet och tankarna bakom finns väl dokumenterade. Resultatet måste analyseras av någon som förstår större delen av innebörden i den teoretiska bakgrunden som är presenterad.

    Resultaten som arbetet skapade gav en djup insikt i svårigheten att framställa programvara som är tilltalande och effektiv. Det är en utmaning många skulle backa för att ta om de visste vad den innebar. Arbetet det innebär kämpar precis som alla projekt där flera människor deltar med att få alla att dra åt samma håll. Det finns inget konkret att satsa på utan alla måste lyssna och försöka samlas kring en vision som symboliserar det kommande resultatet. Hjälpmedel för detta presenteras i rapporten, för det finns fler poänger med att låta verktygen få finnas till hands för mer än bara sammanhållningen. De kan även väcka nya sätt att prata om slutanvändare och hur man ska förhålla sig till dem.

    Uppdragsgivaren Saab Electronic Defence Systems i Jönköping erbjuder ett flertal produkter främst inom avioniksystem. För att kunna utvärdera och kontrollera produktens design i ett tidigt skede så kan en simulering av systemets beteende och att felsöka så tidigt som möjligt vara ett möjligt alternativ. En systemsimulering kan innebära att mjukvaruutveckling och felsökning kan påbörjas långt innan hårdvaruprototypen är tillgänglig, med samma storlek och komplexitet som systemet.

    Andra fördelar med simulering är att det går enklare att fastställa orsaken till systemkrasch, hitta de längsta exekveringstiderna och göra felinjiceringar. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att testa och utvärdera hur simulatorer och emulatorer är som utvecklings- och testverktyg.

    Rapporten innehåller en marknadsundersökning där tio stycken emulatorer och simulatorer hittades. Av dessa valdes två stycken ut, Wind River Simics och Imperas OVPSim. Tester utfördes för användarvänlighet, debugging, samt jämförande tester mellan riktig hårdvara och simulerad miljö. Resultatet visar att simulatorer kan hjälpa till vid produktutveckling, men att de ännu inte är så optimala för att utvärdera hårdvara i. Detta för att avvikelser kan förekomma i exekveringstider mellan riktig och simulerad hårdvaruarkitektur.

    Websites today only offer simpler form of technical analysis and are not fun to use, therefore student decided to build a website that makes technical analysis a bit more fun by giving user possibility to experiment with settings for technical indicators and also see clear visible results from analysis. Student decided to build website in ASP.NET. Technical indicators for this project only consist of those who give buy and sell-signals via cross-over, no divergence or pattern finding.This project has three questions that define this project. It’s important that there is good functionality so that performing an analysis is perceived as simple, one question is therefore; what functionality for website is needed in order for analysis to be perceived as more simple?Technical analysis is a pretty complex subject and demands an interface that is perceived as easy to understand and easy to use, it’s therefore important that the interface is well designed, second question is therefore; how should the interface be designed to be user-friendly?When systems grow large they often become hard to develop and later on unmaintainable because of the accumulated complexity and dependency between classes, the code is a mess, the last question is therefore; how can the systems complexity be eased with object-oriented design principles?Jakob Nielsens ten heuristics for User Interface Design were used as inspiration for designing the interface for the website. The system design follows SOLID principles, some pattern-design were also used because pattern-design often fulfills SOLID principles or makes for pretty good solutions in regular code-problems.At the beginning of the project the student did a small research to find out what was needed in order to complete project. Work-method for project follows agile development where decisions were made on a weekly basis. The project was divided into three phases where each phase was strongly coupled to a specific area of responsibility. Prototypes for interface were made and used as a basis for the resulting interface.The project led to a working website with good functionality. Filter was considered as important in order to ease shaping of analysis because the user could more easily sort and pick stock. The student assumed that the user would want fast and easy access to their stock so portfolio management were implemented so that user could more easily get to stock that was considered as favorites. The interface follows to a big extent Jakob Nielsens ten heuristics for User Interface Design and is proven by comparing interface with principles. The same goes for design of the system, design is proven by comparing with principles, still to this day system is considered easy to continue development.Student made the conclusion that SOLID principles were very important in order for the system to maintain its health and took experience from these principles. Student became happy with the interface but more focus could’ve been given for a more interactive interface because it might’ve been perceived as more intuitive.

    Denna rapport handlar om utveckling av administratörsfunktioner för applikationen QuickPick som är ett värdesystem för ett lager. I dagsläget finns det inga funktioner för användaren att sortera, gruppera eller filtrera vyinställningar i applikationen. De som använder systemet får kontakta Qsys Sverige AB, där detta uppdrag är utfört, för att ändra vyinställningar manuellt. Rapporten behandlar teori om hur ett lager är uppbyggt, hur man programmerar på ett generellt sätt så att det blir enklare att fortsätta utveckla funktionen. Teorin behandlar också hur man på ett användarvänligt sätt skapar ett system för en administratör.Funktionerna kommer att finnas i en webbportal tillgänglig för administratören och är utvecklat i C# och ASP.NET. Resultatet av rapporten är fungerande administratörsfunktioner för vyinställningar i en webbportal som kan användas i QuickPick applikationen.

    Developing an automatic control system from original stage is quite time consuming, a lot of works must be done before the final result, in order to save designing time and money, a systematic way to carry through development is necessary. This project will give an experience about using a systemic method to develop an automatic control system for metal dosing and transfer from original stage. The project will be divided into several different phases, and each phase focuses on some different important tasks. In this project a research of PLCs and stepper motors and then give suitable suggestions of selection of them have been done. One of important roles for this project is to develop a prototype machine and use computer to model and simulate prototype and whole machine, therefore, in this project, using SDL assistant with Matlab to model and simulate both prototype and whole machine have been processed. Because of some unexpected condition, this project doesn’t include real PLC programming.

    The study of ontology design patterns (ODPs) is a fairly recent development. Such patterns simplify ontology development by codifying and reusing known best practices, thus lowering the barrier to entry of ontology engineering. However, while ODPs appear to be a promising addition to research and while such patterns are being presented and used, work on patterns as artifacts of their own, i.e. methods of developing, identifying and evaluating them, is still uncommon. Consequently, little is known about what ODP features or characteristics are beneficial or harmful in different ontology engineering situations. The presented PhD project aims to remedy this by studying ODP quality characteris- tics and what impact these characteristics have on the usability of ODPs themselves and on the suitability of the resulting ontologies.

    This paper introduces a generic architecture for semantic complex event processing (CEP) over sensor data, as exemplified by a reference implementation system in development for the security and surveillance domain. The system gathers data from a number of sensor subsystems and classifies this data according to ontology-based situation models and rules. The output of the system is alerts about threat situations that supports human operators in deciding when and how to deploy security personnel to manage these threats. The novelty of the proposed approach lies in the use of modular ontology design patterns for system configuration, which enable non-technical users to rapidly configure the system for particular scenarios.

    Abstract [en]

    Ontology Design Patterns (ODPs) show potential in enabling simpler, faster, and more correct Ontology Engineering by laymen and experts. For ODP adoption to take off, improved tool support for ODP use in Ontology Engineering is required. This paper studies and evaluates the effects of strategies for object property specialisation in ODPs, and suggests tool improvements based on those strategies. Results indicate the existence of three previously unstudied strategies for ODP specialisation, the uses of which affect reasoning performance and integration complexity of resulting ontologies.

    Abstract [en]

    Ontology Design Patterns show promise in enabling simpler, faster, more correct Ontology Engineering by laymen and experts alike. Evaluation of such patterns has typically been performed in experiments set up with artificial scenarios and measured by quantitative metrics and surveys. This paper presents an observational case study of content pattern usage in configuration of an event processing system. Results indicate that while structural characteristics of patterns are of some importance, greater emphasis needs to be put on pattern metadata and the development of pattern catalogue features.

    The use of Ontology Design Patterns (ODPs) in ontology engineering has been shown to have beneficial effects on the quality of developed ontologies, and promises increased interoperability of those same ontologies. Unfortunately, the lack of user-friendly integrated ODP tooling has prevented the adoption of pattern use. This paper demonstrates an extension to the WebProt´eg´e ontology engineering environment supporting the finding, specialisation, and integration of ODPs. The extension combines existing approaches with new developments in ODP search, specialisation strategies, and alignment.

    Abstract [en]

    Ontologies are increasingly used in systems where performance is an important requirement. While there is a lot of work on reasoning performance-altering structures in ontologies, how these structures appear in Ontology Design Patterns (ODPs) is as of yet relatively unknown. This paper surveys existing literature on performance indicators in ontologies applicable to ODPs, and studies how those indicators are expressed in patterns published on two well known ODP portals. Based on this, it proposes recommendations and design principles for the development of new ODPs.

    Semantic web ontologies have several advantages over other knowledge representation formats that make them appropriate for information logistics architectures and applications. However, the construction of ontologies is still time-consuming and error prone for practitioners. One recent development that aims to remedy this situation is the introduction of ontology design patterns, codifying best practices and promoting reuse. This paper presents a literature survey into the state of research on ontology patterns, and suggests the use of such patterns for modeling information demand and distribution.

    Abstract [en]

    The use of semantic technologies and Semantic Web ontologies in particular have enabled many recent developments in information integration, search engines, and reasoning over formalised knowledge. Ontology Design Patterns have been proposed to be useful in simplifying the development of Semantic Web ontologies by codifying and reusing modelling best practices.

    This thesis investigates the quality of Ontology Design Patterns. The main contribution of the thesis is a theoretically grounded and partially empirically evaluated quality model for such patterns including a set of quality characteristics, indicators, measurement methods and recommendations. The quality model is based on established theory on information system quality, conceptual model quality, and ontology evaluation. It has been tested in a case study setting and in two experiments.

    The main findings of this thesis are that the quality of Ontology Design Patterns can be identified, formalised and measured, and furthermore, that these qualities interact in such a way that ontology engineers using patterns need to make tradeoffs regarding which qualities they wish to prioritise. The developed model may aid them in making these choices.

    Semantic web technologies show great promise in usage scenarios that involve information logistics. This paper is an experience report on improving the semantic web ontology underlying an application used in expert finding. We use ontology design patterns to find and correct poor design choices, and align the application ontology to commonly used semantic web ontologies in order to increase the interoperability of the ontology and application. Lessons learned and problems faced are discussed, and possible future developments of the project mapped out.

    Abstract [en]

    The goal of the thesis is to design the star-based mesh topology by introducing multiple pan-coordinators (hub/switches) under a multipath-fading environment and to improve the data transaction rate of a network which usually gets worst when there is a single pan-coordinator for synchronization of devices in conventional mesh topology; also reduce the hop-count as least as possible.

    Most of the work has been done on NS-2 network simulator; therefore the research model which has been used here is a simulation model. Altogether 3 simulations have been done. The first scenario is done on a simplest mesh network with a single coordinator and a radio propagation model which has been used is two-ray ground reflection model. The second scenario simulation is similar to the first scenario but in-order to provide multi-path signal fading and highly congested environment the propagation model which has been used this time is shadowing model. The final simulation which has been done is of multiple-star based mesh topology it also uses the similar radio propagation model which has been defined for second scenario. An intensive performance measurement of all the three simulations has been done in terms of transactions made per-second, packet drop rate along with an analysis of packet drop. An hop-count is also measured between star and mesh topology.

    For multiple star based mesh topology it can be assumed if multiple stars with a routing capability can be used then nodes in a network will be synchronized or re-synchronized with least number of hops in the congested network with a near-by pan-coordinator (hub/switch). One of the major applications of this topology can be automobile manufacturing industry where alot of machines are installed in a congested network and monitoring of every area is mandatory for swift production.

    When two distributed parties want to share information stored in ontologies, they have to make sure that they refer to the same concepts. This is done matching the ontologies.

    This thesis will show the implementation of a method for automatic ontology matching based on the representation of polygons. The method is used to compare two ontologies and determine the degree of similarity between them.

    The first of the ontologies will be taken as the standard, while the other will be compared to it by analyzing the elements in both. According to the degrees of similarity obtained from the comparison of elements, a set of polygons is represented for the standard ontology and another one for the second ontology.

    Comparing the polygons we obtain the final result of the similarity between the ontologies.

    With that result it is possible to determine if two ontologies handle information referred to the same concept.

    Abstract [en]

    One of the limitations of the current NOC architectures is their inability to provide efficient access mechanisms for on-chip or off-chip memories. It is expected that a large amount of memory will be required to support many cores on a NoC system. In this paper, we describe an efficient 3-level memory hierarchy suitable for NoC based systems. We also present a design of the memory network interface to connect a shared memory core to an on-chip network for block based accesses. We have developed a model of a mesh topology NoC architecture of size 5x5 with a single shared on-chip memory and buffer-less routers. The routers implement a very simple adaptive routing scheme. In the model five cores are made to concurrently access the shared memory for blocks of data. We have carried out interesting experiments to study the variation of average memory access time for different network loads, block size and width of a channel connecting two routers. As expected the average access time improves with the increase in the block size due to pipelined nature of memory accesses through the network. The results show that the average access time of the shared memory could be acceptable for block sizes larger than 100 bytes with channel widths of 64 bits even when the other traffic load is as much as 80%. However, it will be very slow to access blocks smaller than 32 bytes from a shared memory.

    This assignment has been performed at location and commissioned by Attendit

    AB in Jönköping. The task has been to develop a client/server system to access

    data stored in SQL databases where the client application is developed to run on

    regular cellular telephones. The importance has been to develop as reliable mobile

    communication as possible. The functionality that is demanded upon the mobile

    communication is:

    • Secured for future versions

    • Interoperability

    • Data should not be bugged, modified or disappear

    unnoticed

    • Resource efficient

    We have achieved these demands by developing our own protocol that is on top of

    the TCP protocol. The difficulty with the development has been to take in mind

    the limited resources of the mobile phones regarding storage, memory and CPU.

    The result of this task is a working system with a belonging database which has

    stable mobile communication as foundation. Server and client is well structure so

    the system easy can be extended with new different calls to the database.

    In hence of confidentiality the real system is not presented in this report. Instead

    we will describe fictitious scenario to exemplify the resolutions to the problems

    that we have identified.

    Abstract [en]

    The majority of all power cuts that affects individuals and communities are caused by earth faults on the power transmission lines at 10kV and 20kV level [1]. If these power cuts could be eliminated, less disturbances and interrupts would lead to large amounts of money savings.

    Swedish Neutral has developed such a protection system. When an earth fault occurs power is injected into the neutral point of the transformer. The RCC (Residual Current Compensation) protection calculates a compensation current exactly 180 degrees out of phase to the fault current. Doing this, the voltage at the fault location becomes very close to zero, without affecting the power transmission.

    The protection system can only compensate automatically for the fundamental frequency (50Hz), and manually for the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th harmonics. In most cases, when the harmonics are very small it is not necessary to compensate for them. There are though cases when compensation for the harmonics is necessary.

    This thesis focuses on finding the best method to extract the content of a sampled signal regarding both simplicity and speed. Both amplitude and phase of each harmonic must be calculated. Is the proposed method suitable for the current computer system and how can it easily be implemented.

    Because the fundamental frequency is known and the harmonics are all multiples of the fundamental frequency it makes the task less complex. It is not necessary to use the FFT algorithm. The DFT can be calculated using correlation. Both phase and amplitude can be calculated very precisely with few samples and not so many computer operations.

    Network on Chip (NoC) is a new paradigm for designing large and complex systems on chips (SoCs). In this paradigm, a packet switched network is provided for on-chip communication among cores. NoC paradigm provides the required scalability and reusability to reduce design time of SoCs. A NoC simulator is an important tool required to support development of designs based on a NoC architecture. In this paper, we describe the design of such a simulator using System Description Language (SDL). Features of SDL for representing structural hierarchy using blocks, concurrent processes and dynamic generation of processes, communication channels of user defined data types and timers are useful for modelling a NoC architecture at various levels of communication protocols. We use an event driven SDL simulator to carry out interesting experiments to evaluate various architectural options like buffer size in switches, and their effect on the performance like delay and packet loss.

    The idea of using on chip packet switched networks for interconnecting a large number of IP cores is very practical for designing complex SoCs since it gives possibility of not only reusing IP cores but also the interconnection infrastructure. However, the real effort and time in using these Networks on Chip (NoC) goes in developing interfaces for connecting cores to the on-chip network. Standardization of interfaces for these cores can speed up the development process. In this paper, we present our work of developing an interface for a standard bus called OPB to the on-chip network. Any cores having OPB as the wrapper can reuse this interface. The paper also describes implementation of a small NoC prototype using this idea on an FPGA platform. The performance measurements on the prototype not only demonstrate the feasibility of NoC implementation but also demonstrate that FPGA based NoC implementation will be able to meet the performance requirements in many application areas. Specifically, we show that a core can communicate 2.5 MPackets/sec to a neighboring core.

    Chen and Chiu published a fault tolerant routing algorithm for mesh topology net-works which they claimed was deadlock free in the presence of multiple faults. In this paper we give a counter-example to show that their Message-Route algorithm fails to provide deadlock free routing in a 2 dimensional mesh network. We also point out certain cases where the algorithm fails to route messages to their destinations. We identify an error in the proof of the main theorem in their paper which was used for proving the property of deadlock freeness. Changes to their algorithm are proposed to make it deadlock free and complete. We also discuss a new application of fault tolerant routing algorithms for non-homogeneous 2-dimensional mesh topology networks for on-chip communication.

    Mesh topology is popular for Network on Chip (NoC) architectures because it has many desirable fabrication and performance properties, due to fixed sized rectangular tiles for resources. Region concept has been proposed to handle cores with larger size than the tiles. In this paper, we present an elaboration of the region concept, pointing out new design issues and possibilities. Special routing algorithms are required for deadlock free communication to handle blockage introduced by the regions. We show that fault tolerant algorithms developed for multi-computer systems can be adapted for this purpose. By simulation, we study the introduction of rectangular regions in a 7X7 NoC. Our study shows that the position and orientation of regions have a strong influence on achieved network performance.

    Abstract [en]

    The concept of hierarchical networks is useful for designing a large heterogeneous NoC by reusing predesigned small NoCs as subnets. It can also be helpful when analyzing and designing a large NoC as interconnection of subnets at a higher level of abstraction. Hierarchical deadlock-free routing is required to enable deadlock-free interconnection of sub-networks with different internal routing algorithms. In this paper we show that multi-level addressing is a cost-effective implementation option for hierarchical deadlock-free routing. We propose a two-level routing scheme, which is not only efficient, but also  enables co-existence of algorithmic and table-based implementation in one router. A hierarchical view of the network simplifies addressing of network nodes and address decoding in the router. Synthesis results show that a 2-level hierarchical router design for an 8x8 NoC, can reduce area and power requirements by  up to ~20%, as compared to a router for the flat network. This work also proposes a new possibility for increasing the number of nodes available for subnet-to-subnet interfaces, while keeping the properties of hierarchical deadlock-freedom. We evaluate and discuss the communication performance in a 2-level hierarchical network for various subnet interface set-ups and traffic situations. A cycle accurate simulator has been developed and used for this purpose.

    Abstract [en]

    Complexity of designing large and complex NoCs can be reduced/managed by using the concept of hierarchical networks. In this paper, we propose a methodology for design of deadlock free routing algorithms for hierarchical networks, by combining routing algorithms of component subnets. Specifically, our methodology ensures reachability and deadlock freedom for the complete network if routing algorithms for subnets are deadlock free. We evaluate and compare the performance of hierarchical routing algorithms designed using our methodology with routing algorithms for corresponding flat networks. We show that hierarchical routing, combining best routing algorithm for each subnet, has a potential for providing better performance than using any single routing algorithm. This is observed for both synthetic as well as traffic from real applications. We also demonstrate, by measuring jitter in throughput, that hierarchical routing algorithms leads to smoother flow of network traffic. A router architecture that supports scalable table-based routing is briefly outlined.

    Abstract [en]

    The simplicity of regular mesh topology NoC architecture leads to reductions in design time and manufacturing cost. A weakness of the regular shaped architecture is its inability to efficiently support cores of different sizes. A proposed way in literature to deal with this is to utilize the region concept, which helps to accommodate cores larger than the tile size in mesh topology NoC architectures. Region concept offers many new opportunities for NoC design, as well as provides new design issues and challenges. One of the most important among these is the design of an efficient deadlock free routing algorithm. Available adaptive routing algorithms developed for regular mesh topology can not ensure freedom from deadlocks. In this paper, we list and discuss many new design issues which need to be handled for designing NoC systems incorporating cores larger than the tile size. We also present and compare two deadlock free routing algorithms for mesh topology NoC with regions. The idea of the first algorithm is borrowed from the area of fault tolerant networks, where a network topology is rendered irregular due to faults in routers or links, and is adapted for the new context. We compare this with an algorithm designed using a methodology for design of application specific routing algorithms for communication networks. The application specific routing algorithm tries to maximize adaptivity by using static and dynamic communication requirements of the application. Our study shows that the application specific routing algorithm not only provides much higher adaptivity, but also superior performance as compared to the other algorithm in all traffic cases. But this higher performance for the second algorithm comes at a higher area cost for implementing network routers.

    Abstract [en]

    Students at Jönköping School of Engineering were given an assignment from Jönköping municipality, to evaluate their decision support system, QlikView. The students have also developed proposals for improvement with focus on usability.The Jönköpings municipality has currently got 11000 employees and consists of nine different administrations. The target group for QlikView is approximately 600 first-line managers.

    The intention of QlikView is that the users can get an overall picture of their business by having all information in just one system.

    The purpose of the thesis is to obtain a picture of what the users think about the system today and present relevant suggestions for improvement, which the Jönköping municipality can use when the introduction of the new version of QlikView takes place. The research questions that the study aims to answer are:

    • Has QlikView got a user friendly interface?• How can the interface be improved to become more user friendly?

    Theories that this work is based on is Jacob Nielsens ten usability principles and Ben Schneidermans eight golden rules. They are both well-known authors in the subject of interaction design. The thesis also deals with theories regarding how an evaluation should be performed and how you collect data in the most positive way.

    The evaluation is started with a questionnaire that was sent out to the employees who had been logged into the system the past six months, the students also carried out interviews with 6 first-line managers. The result from the questionnaire and the interviews is presented in both diagrams, tables and in running text.

    In the questionnaire, 44% of the respondents thought that the usability in QlikView was low. Opinions that stood out were that the selections are marked in an unclear way and that respondents found it difficult to know how to use the system.

    The six interviewed persons agreed that they all wanted to have a search box instead of the search function that today is ”hidden”.

    The suggested improvements that are presented are based on theories and result from the questionnaire and interviews.

    The work ends with a discussion and a conclusion. The conclusion is that the Jönköping municipality should make some changes in terms of functions and layout to enhance the usability. The students hope that this work will help the Jönköping municipality in their new version of QlikView.

    Sensorfusion innebär att man kombinerar resultatet från två eller flera sensorersom mäter samma information. På så sätt kan man få ett bättre mätresultat än vadvarje enskild sensor kan ge. Ofta använder man olika typer av sensorer som harsina för och nackdelar, filtrerar bort ”nackdelarna” från varje sensor och slår sedanihop resultatet. Ett sådant filter kallas för komplementärfilter.Sensorfusion för vinkelmätning används främst i reglersystem för olikabalanseringssyften, t.ex. för att stabilisera luftburna fordon som helikopter ochflygplan, eller tvåhjuliga självbalanserande fordon som ”Segway PersonalTransporter”[1].I denna rapport beskrivs hur ett komplementärfilter för vinkelmätning med ettgyroskop och en accelerometer fungerar. Komplementärfiltret används sedan i entvåhjulig självbalanserande robot som insignal till dess PID-regulator, i ett försökatt få den att balansera helt själv utan yttre påverkan.
