    Abstract [sv]

    Syftet med studien var att undersöka enhetschefernas förväntningar på HR-funktionen inom den offentliga sektorn, samt kartlägga om dessa förväntningar även stämmer överens med vad som var möjligt i en viss organisation. Studien som genomfördes var kvalitativ och semistrukturerade intervjuer tillämpades under datainsamlingen. Studien utfördes med ett bekvämlighetsurval vilket resulterade i att åtta enhetschefer inom två kommuner valdes till studien (n=8). Detta medförde att studien riktades mot fyra huvudsakliga HR-funktioner. Data från de semistrukturerade intervjuerna bearbetades med en tematisk analys. I studiens resultat framkom det fyra aspekter angående enhetschefernas förväntningar på HR. Aspekterna som framställdes var samverkan, kommunikation, problematik och HR-funktion. I studiens slutsats framkom det att enhetschefernas förväntningar på HR delvis stämde överens med vad som var möjligt inom de två utvalda organisationer.

    Abstract [en]

    Animal vehicle collisions (AVC's) have large economic, medical and ecological consequences but have rarely been studied with respect to driver behaviour. The aim of this study was to investigate different AVC-relevant landscape settings (vegetation cover), with and without game fencing and in combination with encountering moose. Twenty-five participants took part in an advanced driving simulator experiment. The results show that neither the presence of a game fence nor vegetation was found to affect driving speed, speed variability, lateral position or visual scanning in general. When a moose appeared at the side of the road, the drivers reacted by slowing down earlier and reducing their speed more when no game fence was present. Furthermore, the speed reduction when a moose was present was significantly larger when the vegetation was sparse. Game fencing made drivers feel at ease whereas dense vegetation was experienced as more stressful.

    Denna studie undersökte upplevelser av etnisk diskriminering på arbetsmarknaden hos

    arbetslösa första och andra generationens invandrare. Studien hade en kvalitativ ansats

    och semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes. Urvalet bestod av ett bekvämlighetsurval

    med nio arbetslösa respondenter från olika länder. En tematisk analys genomfördes och

    visade åtta upplevelseaspekter som utgjorde resultatet av vad lagligen definierad

    diskriminering är: utländskt utseende, utländskt namn, språkfärdigheter,

    religionstillhörighet, kompetens, kallelse till intervju, anställningsformer samt inställning.

    Att uppleva sociokulturella utmaningar bidrog till pragmatiska resultat av att ha en främmande kulturell identitet. Genom att få både sin kulturella samt professionella

    identitet utmanad, bidrog det till en negativ inställning hos majoriteten av

    respondenterna. Detta överensstämmer med tidigare forskning som visat att upprepade

    upplevelser av etnisk diskriminering bidrar till ett sämre välbefinnande. Förslag till

    framtida forskning är att utföra kvantitativa studier för att exempelvis undersöka hur

    etnisk diskriminering påverkar arbetslösas fysiska och psykiska hälsa över en längre

    tidsperiod för att bidra med en djupare förståelse av ämnet.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study was to examine what job attributes students at The School of Health and Welfare (HH) and The School of Engineering (JTH) in Jönköping preferred in the choice of their future employer. Furthermore, it was investigated whether sex and the choice of school influence students’ job attribute preferences. The study had a deductive research approach and quantitative data were collected by a delivery and collection questionnaire, which was handed out in classes at JTH and HH. The selection method consisted mainly of a random cluster sample with some elements of a convenience sample and the findings in this thesis are based on 346 students preferred job attributes conducted through a survey. One-way ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U and Univariate analysis was made to analyze collected data. The top five job attribute preferences among students was “work I like doing”, “friendly people to work with”, “a secure job”, “good working conditions”, and “opportunities to use my abilities”. A significant level at p= .05 was applied and showed significant differences in separate job attributes for both sex and school. By categorizing the job attributes the results showed that the internal job attributes was more preferred than the external job attributes. The result of this study contributes valuable information by which job attribute students prefer in their choice of their future employer and could be used by organizations to identify the target group which is inquired for.

    Syftet med föreliggande kvalitativa fallstudie var att kartlägga anställdas upplevelser av kontorslandskap i ett stort svenskt företag och undersöka om uppfattningen verkligen är så negativ som en stor del av forskningen visar. Med utgångspunkt i de teman som tidigare forskning belyst sammanställdes en samtalsguide vilken låg till grund för datainsamlingen. Totalt genomfördes samtal med 12 anställda vilka tillhörde samma avdelning. Vid analys av data kombinerades en pragmatisk- och tematisk analysmetod varpå fyra teman urskildes. Resultatet visade å ena sidan att störningsmoment i kontorslandskapet stundom försämrade koncentrationsförmågan och produktiviteten. Å andra sidan främjade kontorslandskapet lärande, snabb och enkel kommunikation samt samspel mellan anställda. Då nackdelarna vägdes mot fördelarna framställdes kontorslandskapet som övervägande positivt. Studien gick således i linje med tidigare kvalitativ forskning men skiljer sig från kvantitativ som främst belyst bristerna med kontorslandskap. För att fånga kontorslandskapets komplexitet finns behov av ytterligare kvalitativ forskning.

    Abstract [en]

    The study's purpose was to map differences between individual factors and the perception of the social and organizational work environment among students at Jönköping University. The social and organizational work environment in this study is based on six different segments: demands, control, social support, balance between studies and free time, health and wellbeing and offensive behavior. The study is quantitative and is based on a cross-sectional design with a deductive approach. In March 2017, an online survey was distributed to students with a study pace of 75 % or more at the university. The survey generated 1324 responses with at response rate of 19,3 %. The data were analyzed with Independent Sample t-test, Independent One Way ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis ANOVA. The results showed that particularly women, older students, international students who are not part of an exchange program, Swedish students and students from the Health and Technical Schools, perceived the social and organizational work environment more negatively than their comparison groups. The segment, health and wellbeing, showed the lowest mean score of all the segments. The study's results confirmed existing theories with the exceptions that the older students experienced the social and organizational work environment more negatively than the other students, and that the exchange students perceived it more positively. For further research the authors suggests qualitative studies to identify the causes of the differences that showed significant results.

    Studiens syfte var att undersöka ett urval erfarna HR-representanter inom offentlig verksamhets upplevelser av att arbeta med stressrelaterad ohälsa. För studien valdes en kvalitativ forskningsmetod bestående av semistrukturerade intervjuer med efterföljande tematisk analys. Ett snöbollsurval ledde till åtta deltagare (n=8) fördelat på sju organisationer. Stressrelaterad ohälsa är en vanlig orsak till sjukskrivning i dagens samhälle och en del i gällande arbetsmiljölagstiftning. Analysen resulterade i fyra övergripande teman; stress, arbetsmiljö, ambitionsnivå och HR-funktionens roll. Resultatet visade att stress är ett komplext ämne. Många gånger beror stress på annat än arbetets utformning såsom till exempel privatliv eller höga ambitioner hos medarbetare. Den sociala och organisatoriska arbetsmiljön spelar också roll för den upplevda stressen och det är HR:s uppgift att ge chefer rätt förutsättningar för att bedriva arbetet mot stressrelaterad ohälsa.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study was to investigate employees' work satisfaction at a construction company and if the employees' working position, age and length of service were the basis for differences in work satisfaction. The participants in this study included all employees (= 116) at a Swedish medium-sized construction company and the respondents were selected through a convenience sample. To collect data, the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (Weiss, Dawis, England & Lofqvist, 1967) was used and it consists of three subscales: intrinsic, extrinsic and general work satisfaction. The study's reliability was ensured by Cronbach’s Alpha, which showed .83. Continuously, the result was obtained through a one-way ANOVA analysis for all variables. The results showed that the work position had a significant impact on intrinsic work satisfaction (= .004) and general work satisfaction (= .036), and that age had a significant impact on intrinsic work satisfaction (= .009) and general work satisfaction (= .020). The study concluded that length of service did not have a significant impact on work satisfaction (= .550, n.s.). This suggests that work position and age are relevant factors in relation to employee's work satisfaction and since previous research has shown that work satisfaction contributes to countless benefits, these factors should not be neglected by organisations.

    Abstract [en]

    Background

    Several researchers have studied atmospheric factors like crowding, col-ours, music and olfactory cues and tested their effect on shopping behav-iour. In the particular case of the influence of music in consumers‟ be-haviour, several notable observations have been made.

    Yet, the majority of the studies have focused on the phenomena of the music and the influences of its different factors towards consumers‟ be-haviour but little research has focused on managerial awareness of such effects on its consumers. Thus, there are still a lot of doubts about man-ager‟s practices and perception regarding the use and effects of atmos-pheric music.

    In line with the approaches mentioned above, this thesis intends to fill this gap in the literature through the attainment of two objectives: the first one is to study what exactly clothing retailers are doing in terms of atmospheric music and the second objective is to examine their implicit theories about the impact of the music on consumers‟ shopping behav-iour.

    Purpose

    The purpose of this thesis is to study managerial practices and percep-tions of how music affects customers‟ shopping behaviour in clothing retailers in Sweden.

    Method

    This study employs a qualitative method. The Data was obtained through semi-structured face to face interviews with managers and staff of clothing retailers in Jönköping. These interviews were conducted in clothing stores located in the two main commercial areas of the city where the majority of the stores were located.

    Conclusions

    Our research found that in the big retailers the atmospheric music is used in a more systematically way than in the small ones. This level of sys-tematization is directly related to the level of centralization in decision-making and to the size of the store.

    On the other hand, with regards to our second objective we found thatnot only managers but also the salespersons working in the clothing stores have a high degree of knowledge about how music affects their customer´s shopping behavior. Some of their implicit theories coincided with what previous researchers have found while others didn´t.

    Syftet med studien var att studera huruvida upplevelsen av psykosocial arbetsmiljö skiljer sig mellan medarbetare i en svensk fordonsindustri beroende på individuella faktorer. De individuella faktorerna som studerades var kön, ålder, anställningsform och född i Sverige /inte född i Sverige. Totalt bestod studiens deltagare av 1412 medarbetare (1065 män och 347 kvinnor). Deltagarnas ålder sträckte sig från 18–65 år (M = 40.2 år, SD = 12.47). Studien var av kvantitativ art och var en tvärsnittsstudie. Ett webbaserat frågeformulär användes som forskningsinstrument, vilket konstruerades genom mjukvaruprogrammet esMaker. Enkäten baserades på den korta versionen av Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire II (Pejtersen, Kristensen, Borg & Bjorner, 2010). I studien inkluderades dimensionerna krav, kontroll, socialt stöd, konflikt mellan arbete och privatliv, värderingar samt hälsa och välbefinnande. Kvantitativa data analyserades med hjälp av t-test med oberoende mätningar och one-way ANOVA med Tukey post hoc test. Resultatet visade att upplevelsen av psykosocial arbetsmiljö skiljde sig bland annat i det avseendet att kvinnor upplevde sämre hälsa och välbefinnande än män, medarbetare i åldern 18–29 år upplevde lägre krav och högre socialt stöd än äldre samt att tjänstemän upplevde högre konflikt mellan arbete och privatliv än kollektivanställda. Däremot påvisades inga signifikanta skillnader mellan medarbetare födda i Sverige och medarbetare födda utomlands. Således konstaterades att upplevelsen av psykosocial arbetsmiljö skiljer sig beroende på de individuella faktorerna kön, ålder och anställningsform.

    Driving is an important activity of daily living, which is increasingly relied upon as the population ages. It has been well-established that cognitive processes decline following a stroke and these processes may influence driving performance. There is much debate on the use of off-road neurological assessments and driving simulators as tools to predict driving performance; however, the majority of research uses unlicensed poststroke drivers, making the comparability of poststroke adults to that of a control group difficult. It stands to reason that in order to determine whether simulators and cognitive assessments can accurately assess driving performance, the baseline should be set by licenced drivers. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess differences in cognitive ability and driving simulator performance in licensed community-dwelling poststroke drivers and controls. Two groups of licensed drivers (37 poststroke and 43 controls) were assessed using several cognitive tasks and using a driving simulator. The poststroke adults exhibited poorer cognitive ability; however, there were no differences in simulator performance between groups except that the poststroke drivers demonstrated less variability in driver headway. The application of these results as a prescreening toolbox for poststroke drivers is discussed.

    Studiens syfte var att undersöka det eventuella, prediktiva förhållandet mellan de psykosociala arbetsmiljöfaktorerna krav, kontroll och stöd, psykisk ohälsa och intentioner till egen uppsägning (IEU) bland socialsekreterare anställda i en medelstor kommun i södra Sverige. Studien är av kvantitativ art och har utgått från en tvärsnittsdesign. Genom en webbaserad enkät som skickades till samtliga socialsekreterare i kommunen samlades data in angående de aktuella variablerna. Efter bortfallsanalys uppgick den totala svarsfrekvensen till 37% vilket innebar att 102 respondenters besvarade enkäter inkluderades i studien. Insamlade data analyserades genom en hierarkisk multipel regressionsanalys vars resultat visade att krav positivt predicerade IEU medan kontroll, stöd och högre ålder predicerade IEU negativt, samt att psykisk ohälsa inte predicerade IEU. Noterbart var att stödet hade ett avgörande, prediktivt förhållande till IEU. För vidare forskning föreslogs longitudinella studier för att bekräfta den aktuella studiens prediktiva förhållanden.

    Studiens syfte var att undersöka huruvida ”Corporate Social Responsibility” (CSR) påverkar de anställdas organisatoriska engagemang och ”Organizational Citizenship Behavior” (OCB) positivt samt huruvida CSR-aktiviteterna minskar de anställdas vilja att säga upp sig. Forskningsstrategin har utgått ifrån en deduktiv ansats och grundades i en kvantitativ design där en webbaserad enkätstudie skickades ut till de anställda på ett medelstort kooperativt företag inom fastighetsbranschen under april 2016. Ett klusterurval genomfördes vilket genererade 62 enkätsvar med en svarsfrekvens på 36%. För att säkerställa mätinstrumentets reliabilitet användes Cronbachs alfa reliabilitetskoefficient där samtliga värden låg mellan α=0,81 och α=0,89. Pearsons korrelationsanalys och flera stegvisa regressionsanalyser utfördes för att analysera data. En signifikansnivå på p=0,05 tillämpades och studiens resultat visade att CSR predicerar de anställdas organisatoriska engagemang (p <0,001) och OCB (p <0,001). Slutsatsen av resultatet indikerade på att företagets CSR-arbete är relevant och har en positiv påverkan på de anställdas attityder och beteenden.

    Abstract [en]

    The symptomatology of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can make driving risky, but little is known about the on-road driving behaviour of individuals with ASD. This study assessed and compared the on-road driving performance of drivers with and without ASD, and explored how the symptomatology of ASD hinders or facilitates on-road driving performance. Sixteen drivers with ASD and 21 typically-developed drivers participated in the study. Drivers with ASD underperformed in vehicle manoeuvring, especially at left-turns, right-turns and pedestrian crossings. However, drivers with ASD outperformed the TD group in aspects related to rule-following such as using the indicator at roundabouts and checking for cross-traffic when approaching intersections. Drivers with ASD in the current study presented with a range of capabilities and weaknesses during driving.

    Method: Seventeen drivers with autism spectrum disorders and 18 typically developed drivers participated in a driving simulator trial. Prior to the assessment, participants completed the Driving Behaviour Questionnaire and measurements of cognitive and visual-motor ability. The driving simulation involved driving in an urban area with dense traffic and unpredictable events.

    Results: In comparison with the typically developed group, drivers with autism spectrum disorders reported significantly more lapses in driving, committed more mistakes on the driving simulator, and were slower to react in challenging situations, such as driving through intersections with abrupt changes in traffic lights. However, they were also less likely to tailgate other vehicles, as measured by time-to-collision between vehicles, on the driving simulator.

    Conclusions: The performances of licensed drivers with autism spectrum disorders appeared to be safer in respect to car-following distance but were poorer in their response to challenging traffic situations. Driver education for individuals with autism spectrum disorders should focus on quick identification of hazards, prompt execution of responses, and effective allocation of attention to reduce lapses in driving.

    Shared zones are a contemporary traffic zone that promotes equality between multiple road users and efficiently utilizes available space, while simultaneously maintaining safety and function. As this is a relatively new traffic zone, it is important to understand how pedestrians navigate a shared zone and any potential challenges this may pose to individuals with impairments. The aim of this study was to utilize eye-tracking technology to determine fixations and fixation duration on traffic relevant objects, non-traffic relevant objects, and eye contact, in 40 individuals with and without Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a shared zone and a zebra crossing. It was assumed that individuals with ASD would make less eye contact in the shared zone compared to the group of typically developing adults. A total of 3287 fixations across the shared zone and zebra crossing were analysed for areas of interest that were traffic relevant, non-traffic relevant, and eye contact, and for fixation duration. Individuals with ASD did not display any difference in terms of eye contact in the shared zone and the zebra crossing when compared to the controls. All pedestrians were more likely to look at traffic relevant objects at the zebra crossing compared to the shared zone. Individuals with ASD had an overall shorter fixation duration compared to the control group, indicating people with ASD either process information quickly, or they do not process it for long enough, although these findings require further investigation. While shared zones have many benefits for traffic movement and environmental quality, it appeared that pedestrians displayed safer road crossing behaviours at a zebra crossing than in a shared zone, indicating that more education and environmental adaptations are required to make shared zones safe for all pedestrians.

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the importance of the psychosocial work environment when employees decide to terminate their employment within an industrial organization. The purpose was also to investigate whether or not tenure and age was of importance for intentions to leave. A quantitative design was used for the study, where a web-based survey was conducted at an organization within the industrial sector. A representative selection generated 138 responses, resulting in a response rate of 57%. The instruments used were the Intention to Leave Scale (Kelloway, Gottlieb & Barham, 1999) and parts of the Copenhagen Psychological Questionnaire (Kristensen, Hannerz, Høgh & Borg, 2005). For this study, Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient for the Intention to Leave Scale was α = .86 and for the Copenhagen Psychological Questionnairedimensions; α = .89 for Interpersonal relations and leadership, α = .82 for Job satisfaction, and α = .90 for Values at the workplace. Pearson's correlation analysis and One-Way ANOVA were used to analyze collected data. The results show significant relationships between intention to leave and psychosocial work environment. There were no significant differences regarding the intention to leave based on age or tenure. The findings of the study were in line with previous research, therefore it was concluded that a correlation existed within the industrial sector as well. For future research, it was implied that a need for causality studies of the subject was apparent.

    BACKGROUND In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of children with a refugee background in the Netherlands. All of these children who are under 18 years of age must go to school, but they face many barriers towards inclusion. Appropriately educating this diverse group of children presents schools with challenges. Supportive programs are needed to overcome these barriers and challenges. AIM The aim of this paper was to explore what supports are put in place to foster refugee students’ inclusion in school. METHOD A systematic literature review was conducted to synthesize research on school-based programs and practices. RESULTS A broad range of supports were identified. Most studies addressed access barriers to learning by offering emotional and educational support, while fewer studies focused on opportunity barriers such as negative attitudes and lack of parental involvement. CONCLUSION It was concluded that schools can play an important role in supporting the inclusion of refugee children and their families because of their accessibility, but that more high quality research is necessary in order to assess the effectiveness of supports that minimize barriers towards learning and promote their inclusion in school.

    Denna studie syftade till att undersöka sociala representationerna om personlighetstester i samband med rekrytering bland kommunalt anställda HR konsulter. Alla konsulter arbetade på småländska höglandet och arbetade helt eller delvis med rekrytering. Data samlades in via semi-strukturerade intervjuer. En kort litteraturgenomgång om aktuell forskning ger en inblick i vad man vet här och nu och fungerar som en teoretisk utgångspunkt för läsaren. Med tematisk analys delades respondenternas svar upp i olika kategorier och teman för att identifiera gemensamma sociala representationer. Tre visade sig vara gemensamma för alla sex deltagare – tillit, bekräftelse och ambivalens.

    Background

    Shared zones are characterised by an absence of traditional markers that segregate the road and footpath. Negotiation of a shared zone relies on an individual’s ability to perceive, assess and respond to environmental cues. This ability may be impacted by impairments in cognitive processing, which may lead to individuals experiencing increased anxiety when negotiating a shared zone.

    Method

    Q method was used in order to identify and explore the viewpoints of pedestrians, with and without cognitive impairments as they pertain to shared zones.

    Results

    Two viewpoints were revealed. Viewpoint one was defined by “confident users” while viewpoint two was defined by users who “know what [they] are doing but drivers might not”.

    Discussion

    Overall, participants in the study would not avoid shared zones. Pedestrians with intellectual disability were, however, not well represented by either viewpoint, suggesting that shared zones may pose a potential barrier to participation for this group.

    People with intellectual disability (ID) may find shared zones troublesome to negotiate because of the lack of the traditional clearly defined rules and boundaries. With the built environment identified as a barrier to active travel and community access, it is vital to explore how pedestrians with ID navigate shared zones to ensure that this group is not placed in harm's way or discouraged from active travel because of the implications of shared zones. This study investigated the visual strategies of 19 adults with ID and 21 controls who wore head mounted eye trackers in a Shared Zone and at a zebra crossing (as a contrast traffic environment). In total 4750 valid fixations were analysed. Participants with ID fixated on traffic relevant objects at a rate of 68 percent of the control participants. Furthermore, the males with ID were 9(4.4–18.7) times more likely to fixate on non-traffic relevant objects compared with traffic relevant objects, much higher odds than that of females with ID 1.8(0.4–1.7). Zebra crossings appeared to act as a cue, drawing pedestrians' visual attention to the traffic environment, with both groups more likely to look at traffic relevant objects on/at the zebra crossing (66%: 34%). Future implementation of shared zones needs to be carefully considered in relation to the safety of road users with ID and their capacity to identify and assess salient environmental information.

    According to a recent study (Almqvist & Granlund, accepted), participation is not strongly related to type and degree of disability but probably to the context of the individual as well as generic personal factors. Such diverse factors can over time become orchestrated and pull the development of individuals with disability in a certain direction. This study compares how 959 students with and without disabilities in two age‐groups 7–12 and 13–17 perceive their participation in school activities. The main method of analysis is one‐way‐ANOVA. The result indicates that students without disabilities rated their perceived participation higher, especially in unstructured “free”; activities. Further, students without disabilities experience a higher degree of autonomy and rate the availability of school activities as higher. Students with disabilities rate their interaction with teachers as better and more frequent, but their interaction with peers as less frequent. These differences increase with age and may reinforce a stigmatization process.

    Objective: The study explores agreement on diagnoses and diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders between two structured assessment interviews, the Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-IV (SCID) and the Alkohol/Drog Diagnos InStrument (ADDIS). Both interviews are compared with a golden standard (GS), based on a LEAD model (Longitudinal, Expert, All Data). Method: Patients were interviewed concerning substance use problems by trained interviewers using SCID and ADDIS separately and blind to each other's results. SCID and ADDIS interviews were compared with each other, and both were compared with a GS. Results: Satisfactory agreement exists between SCID and ADDIS on criteria as well as final diagnostic suggestions, although ADDIS tended to propose dependence diagnoses somewhat more often than SCID. Agreement between SCID and GS is moderate. Sensitivity of SCID is satisfactory, as is specificity for lifetime diagnoses, while specificity for current diagnoses is perfect. ADDIS demonstrates substantial to perfect agreement with GS on dependence diagnoses and moderate agreement on abuse diagnoses (both lifetime and current), as well as showing excellent to perfect overall sensitivity and specificity. Both instruments are in almost perfect agreement with the GS on severity ratings. Conclusion: Both ADDIS and SCID can be used to ensure good standards in the diagnostic assessment of substance use disorders (both alcohol and drugs), with and without psychiatric comorbidity. Significant outcomes. Both SCID and ADDIS are in good agreement with the GS based on a LEAD model concerning substance use disorders.

    Background

    This study investigates test-retest and inter-item consistency of Alcohol Drog Diagnos InStrument (ADDIS), a structured interview to diagnose substance use disorders according to ICD-10, DSM-IV and DSM-5. ADDIS, the Swedish version of SUDDS, is the only instrument in Swedish that produces diagnostic proposals specific to all drug categories, and for all three diagnostic systems. Screening of stressful life events, anxiety, and depression is also included.

    Methods

    Thirty patients at addiction treatment facilities were interviewed for diagnostic assessment and re-interviewed after one week.

    Results

    ADDIS has excellent internal consistency. There is also very high test-retest correlation on number of fulfilled criteria for all diagnostic systems. Agreement of diagnostic proposals is substantial, mean absolute agreement is excellent, and mean systematic correlation is almost perfect.

    Conclusion

    ADDIS is a reliable tool for specific diagnostic assessment of SUDs.

    A project has been carried out to find methods that effectively decrease drivers’ speeds at road work sites through real-time audio warnings. The project consisted of two parts. First, a survey of existing studies took place. The results show that the characteristics of a successful audio alert are female voice, direct and informative messages, an interaction between semantics and acoustics, successively increased intensity, and the dimming of secondary audio distractions. Based on the results of the survey, a practical evaluation of the potential use of audio warnings at road work sites was carried out in a VTI driver simulator. Twenty-two car drivers drove 25 kilometer on a motorway where two road works were placed on the hard shoulder. Half of the subjects were given an audio warning before the first road work and the other half prior to the second roadwork. The audio warning consisted of a sound similar to that of a GPS warning signal, followed by a female voice saying "Warning! Road work within 500 meters. Adjust the speed!". The message was sent via the car's internal speaker system. The speed reducing effect is significant and the average decrease is estimated to be 9–17 km/h greater with audio warning than without. Furthermore, there was still a small effect (0.5–3.3 km h) left of the audio alert after the road works. More results of the simulation tests are presented along with the drivers’ subjective opinions of such systems.

    Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur svenska poliser upplevde att hot och våld i tjänst påverkade dem. Ett bekvämlighets- och snöbollsurval applicerades, vilket resulterade i tolv respondenter (n=12) där fördelningen var fyra kvinnor och åtta män mellan 30-65 år, från sex olika län. Vid datainsamlingen användes semistrukturerade intervjuer, därefter utfördes en tematisk analys som resulterade i olika tema. Resultatet visade att samtliga poliser upplevde såväl fysiska som psykologiska konsekvenser av hot och våld. Vidare visade resultaten att större delen av respondenterna ansåg sig som underbetalda och ouppskattade i relation till vad de får utstå i tjänsten. Sammantaget var frustration till följd av hot och våld genomgående i alla intervjuerna och majoriteten diskuterade värdet i arbetet, vilket möjligen kan tolkas som en diskrepans i de förberedelser som polisutbildningen erbjuder och vad tjänsten faktiskt sedan innebär.

    Personalomsättning är ett vanligt problem för dagens företag då arbetsmarknaden förändrats. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka vilka sociala representationer som ligger till grund för de anställdas intention att säga upp sig. Studien genomfördes som en fallstudie baserad på fem kategorier som var framträdande i tidigare forskning. Genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med åtta deltagare, varav tre kvinnor och fem män, uppenbarades de anställdas sociala representation kring psykologisk personalomsättning. Resultatet av en tematisk analys visade att upplevelsen av trivsel är viktigast och ökar när majoriteten av de bakomliggande faktorerna uppfylls. Några av de faktorerna var sociala relationer, utvecklingsmöjligheter och omständigheter i privatlivet. Vidare jämfördes dessa föreställningar mot Herzbergs tvåfaktorteori. Slutsatsen blev att vantrivsel är det som främst ligger bakom psykologisk personalomsättning enligt medarbetarnas gemensamma föreställningar. Detta utgör en utmaning för arbetsgivare eftersom inställningen till vantrivselns bakomliggande faktorer varierar.

    Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka skillnader mellan vad som motiverar olika åldersgrupper i arbetslivet. Studiens hypoteser bygger på tidigare forskning som visade att betydelsen av interna motivationsfaktorer ökar med ålder, samt att betydelsen av externa faktorer minskar. Studien genomfördes på en multinationell logistikorganisation i mars 2015 genom en kvantitativ enkätundersökning på 119 deltagare. Reliabilitetstest för studien visade på god reliabilitet för både externa faktorer (α=0,85) och interna faktorer (α=0,79). Korrelations- och variansanalyser genomfördes för att analysera data. En signifikansnivå på p=0,05 användes och resultatet visade att betydelsen av de externa faktorerna lön, karriärmöjligheter, status, beröm och auktoritet minskade med ökad ålder, samt att betydelsen av de interna faktorerna tillhörighet, egen prestation, flexibilitet, självständighet, intresse och utmaningar ökade med ålder. Samtliga nämnda motivationsfaktorer var signifikanta och hade en signifikansnivå mellan p=0,000 och p=0,019. Denna studie kastar därmed ljus på hur individers åldrande leder till att betydelsen av externa motivationsfaktorer förskjuts till en ökad betydelse av interna motivationsfaktorer.

    In a driving simulator study, driving behaviour responses (speed and deceleration) to encountering a moose, automatic speed camera, wildlife warning sign and radio message, with or without a wildlife fence and in dense forest or open landscape, were analysed. The study consisted of a factorial experiment that examined responses to factors singly and in combination over 9-km road stretches driven eight times by 25 participants (10 men, 15 women). The aims were to: determine the most effective animal–vehicle collision (AVC) countermeasures in reducing vehicle speed and test whether these are more effective in combination for reducing vehicle speed; identify the most effective countermeasures on encountering moose; and determine whether the driving responses to AVC countermeasures are affected by the presence of wildlife fences and landscape characteristics. The AVC countermeasures that proved most effective in reducing vehicle speed were a wildlife warning sign and radio message, while automatic speed cameras had a speed-increasing effect. There were no statistically significant interactions between different countermeasures and moose encounters. However, there was a tendency for a stronger speed-reducing effect from the radio message warning and from a combination of a radio message and wildlife warning sign in velocity profiles covering longer driving distances than the statistical tests. Encountering a moose during the drive had the overall strongest speed-reducing effect and gave the strongest deceleration, indicating that moose decoys or moose artwork might be useful as speed-reducing countermeasures. Furthermore, drivers reduced speed earlier on encountering a moose in open landscape and had lower velocity when driving past it. The presence of a wildlife fence on encountering the moose resulted in smaller deceleration.

    Syftet med studien var att undersöka om det finns skillnader mellan generation X och Y med avseende på arbetsmotivation. De individuella faktorer som studerades var generationstillhörighet, kön, utbildningsnivå och arbetsposition. Totalt medverkade 470 anställda (259 kvinnor och 221 män) mellan åldrarna 19-58 år (M = 36.95 år, SD = 12.19) som valdes ut genom ett bekvämlighets- och snöbollsurval. Mätinstrumentet som användes var en webbaserad enkät som konstruerades genom mjukvaruprogrammet esMaker. Enkäten baserades på The Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale (WEIMS) av Tremblay et al. (2009). I studien inkluderades dimensionerna amotivation, extern reglering, introjekterad reglering, identifierad reglering, integrerad reglering och intern reglering. För dimensionerna beräknades Cronbach’ Alpha vara mellan .63 och .82. Kvantitativa data analyserades med hjälp av Independent Sample t-test. Resultatet visade att generation X hade högre intern och integrerad reglering medan generation Y hade högre extern och identifierad reglering, samt högre amotivation. Resultatet visade att män har högre introjekterad reglering än kvinnor. Högskoleutbildade uppvisade högre identifierad reglering än gymnasieutbildade. Resultatet visade även att ledare hade högre inre, integrerad, identifierad samt introjekterad reglering än de som inte hade en ledarposition i arbetet. De som inte hade en ledarposition uppvisade högre extern reglering än de som hade en ledarposition. Resultatet visade att demografiska variabler kan påverka arbetsmotivation hos anställda.

    Syftet med studien var att undersöka huruvida individuella faktorer har en inverkan på upplevelsen av arbetsrelaterad stress inom bank- och finansbranschen genom de tre dimensionerna krav, kontroll och stöd samt att undersöka den psykosociala arbetsmiljön i allmänhet genom dimensionerna hälsa och välbefinnande, samt balansen mellan arbete och privatliv. De individuella faktorer som studerades var kön, ålder, utbildningsnivå, ledande befattning och anställningstid inom organisationen. Totalt deltog 146 medarbetare (92 kvinnor och 54 män), och respondenternas ålder varierade mellan 19–64 år (M = 44.23; SD = 10.89). I studien användes en kvantitativ utformning samt en tvärsnittsdesign. Mätinstrumentet som användes baserades på Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire II (Pejtersen, Kristensen, Borg & Bjorner, 2010), vilket är en förkortad version av originalet. Insamlade data analyserades genom separata t-test med oberoende mätningar. Resultaten visade på signifikanta skillnader i det avseendet att kvinnor upplevde mindre kontroll i arbetet än män och yngre medarbetare upplevde mindre stöd än äldre medarbetare. Resultaten visade även signifikanta skillnader i form av att medarbetare utan ledande position ansåg sig ha mindre kontroll i sitt arbete än medarbetare med ledarposition, dock upplevde de sistnämnda högre krav än icke-ledare. Medarbetare med högre utbildningsnivå upplevde en sämre hälsa och välbefinnande än medarbetare med lägre utbildning. Däremot påvisades ej några signifikanta skillnader gällande anställningstid inom organisationen. Följaktligen kunde det konstateras att upplevelsen av psykosocial arbetsmiljö skiljer sig beroende på de individuella faktorerna kön, ålder, utbildningsnivå samt ledande befattning.

    Denna replikationsstudie undersökte vilka motivations- och hygienfaktorer som predicerar arbetstillfredsställelse hos medarbetare med repetitiva arbetsuppgifter inom en svensk industriell verksamhet samt om de demografiska egenskaperna (ålder och anställningstid) påverkade den upplevda arbetstillfredsställelsen. Faktorerna som inkluderades i studien utgick från Herzbergs (1966) Motivations- och hygienteori. I studien deltog 79 industriarbetare (17 kvinnor, 62 män) med repetitiva arbetsuppgifter. Åldersspannet på respondenterna var 20 – 64 år (M=38,61, SD=11,6). Enkäten som användes i aktuell studie är ursprungligen utformad av Teck-Hong och Waheed (2011) och användes med anledning av att den innehåller frågor som undersöker samtliga faktorer i Motivations-och hygienteorin. Stegvis regressionsanalys användes för att analysera inkomna data. Den faktor som ansågs predicera arbetstillfredsställelse starkast var erkännande, följt av arbetsvillkor och därefter relation till chefer. Vidare visade ett independent sample t-test att de demografiska variablerna inte hade en effekt på arbetstillfredsställelsen. En slutsats som drogs var att majoriteten av de faktorer som predicerar arbetstillfredsställelse tillhör kategorin hygienfaktorer.

    Föreliggande studies syfte var att undersöka huruvida diverse individuella faktorer har inverkan på den arbetsrelaterade stressen hos undersköterskor, som arbetar på äldreboenden inom offentlig verksamhet. Karaseks och Theorells (1990) krav-kontroll-stöd-modell användes för att undersöka den arbetsrelaterade stressen i förhållande till undersköterskornas ålder, längden på anställningen i tid och tjänstgöringsgrad i procent. Denna kvantitativa studie med deduktiv ansats genomfördes via en tvärsnittsdesign: sammantaget 154 undersköterskors svar, i en webbaserad enkät, utgjorde grunden för den data som analyserades i oberoende One-way ANOVA. Resultaten påvisade signifikanta skillnader i form av att undersköterskor som är under 35 år upplevde en lägre kontroll än de som är 51 år eller äldre; undersköterskor som tjänstgör på 100 procent upplevde högre ställda krav än de som tjänstgör på en sysselsättningsgrad mellan 76 och 99 procent. Undersökningens resultat överensstämmer till följd därav i hög grad med tidigare forskning inom ämnesområdet.

    This article aims not at theorizing or reporting empirical results. It rather endeavours to practically help extremely gifted individuals who have discovered that the world does not necessarily function as expected. This tends to create confusion and self-doubt. Based on solid research, however, suggestions are made on how to possible lead a reasonably happy life in a paradoxical world which is not always so appreciative of intellectual brilliance as one might think. Importantly, in order to cope one first needs to understand why being extremely gifted is not always welcomed. Such a framework is therefore suggested. The empirical research in which reasoning and argumentation are built are listed in the reference list for further self-study.

    The notion of Talent Wars is the invention of worldwide consultants McKinsey & Company and their researchers in describing the scarcity of talent deemed necessary to further global and macro-economic growth during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Everyone wants to find and employ talent but the general understanding of what talent is, is surprisingly vague somewhat mirroring the definition crisis in Gifted Education. Because of the growing need for talent management to sustain envisioned economic development it has become essential to merge the experience of several fields of application and research to eliminate management practices based mainly on ideology and wishful thinking to make an organizational culture and climate optimal for recruited talent. Gifted education has a fair understanding of who the gifted and talented are and what they need, even though theories and identification models vary considerably. Talent Management, on the other hand, is a relatively new phenomenon but no current model includes the notion of giftedness. Outside education systems the notion of talent is mainly used as a term for human capital relating mainly to the executive leaders of tomorrow. Yet current talent management practice still divides talent into high achievers, low achievers, and several stages in between, but without knowing much of the social and psychological dynamic following different levels of ability and competence well known to most academic scholars in education and psychology. Gifted education has much to contribute to talent management. This keynote will chart this new territory and pinpoint areas of contention, agreement, pitfalls, misconceptions and best practises as culled from Gifted Education, management, as well as from the documented experience of the Google Corporation; one of the World’s most successful businesses and most popular employers.

    Mainstream teachers are key for developing inclusive schools. Many times they do not feel prepared to deal with inclusive classrooms and may have negative attitudes towards inclusion. The aim of this study was to examine interventions that can affect mainstream pre-service teachers’ attitudes towards inclusion during their studies. Nine studies were identified through a systematic literature review and twelve inter- ventions emerged. Results show that interventions focusing on imparting knowledge of inclusion through a study unit or through an infusion approach can create a positive effect in pre-service teachers’ attitudes towards inclusion. Some factors found to influence the change in attitudes towards inclusion were knowledge of inclusion, gender, and interaction with people with disabilities. This study gives a promising view of the actions that are being taken towards having more inclusive teachers. Nevertheless, inclusion is a complex concept and future research on the content imparted during the interventions and the scales used to measure the change is needed.

    En viktig grund i det värdebaserade ledarskapet är samspelet mellan individernas och organisationens värderingar. Denna blanddesignstudie har gjorts i en svensk organisation som tillämpar värdebaserat ledarskap, i syfte att besvara forskningsfrågan: hur överensstämmer individernas värderingar med organisationens? I denna blanddesignstudie har en enkätundersökning gjorts där svaren från 32 kvinnor och 10 män i åldrarna 18- 65 använts. Resultaten visade att individernas värderingar har återfunnits i de diskurser som visar organisationens värderingar. Författarna har dragit slutsatsen att individernas och organisationens värderingar är samstämmiga.

    Background: Designing a health promotion program to increase physical activity may contribute to weight management. The purpose of this study was to investigate a theory of planned behavior (TPB) program to address this problem in military people.

    Methods: Eighty-four obese/overweight military personnel were randomised into the intervention or control group. A questionnaire assessed demographics, aspects of the TPB program, and physical activity levels. Also assessed were blood glucose and lipid levels. The intervention consisted of seven educational sessions based on TPB. Data were collected at baseline and 3 months after the intervention.

    Results: All constructs of the TPB improved between baseline and follow-up in the intervention group (p <.001), while there were no significant changes in the control group (within-group comparisons). Between-group comparisons on TPB measures revealed differences in all domains when results were controlled for baseline covariates. Greater light and moderate physical activity was observed in the intervention group. Body mass index decreased significantly within the intervention group (p <.001). Changes in triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein also favored the intervention over the control group.

    Conclusion: An intervention based on the TPB may be effective in promoting physical activity and decreasing weight in military personnel who are obese or overweight.

    Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur rekryterare i Jönköpings län upplevde personlighetstestens användbarhet vid rekrytering. I den vetenskapliga litteraturen framkom en oenighet mellan forskare och yrkesverksamma samt en kritik mot rekryterares bristande kunskap om personlighetstest. Därför syftade studien till att jämföra hur väl rekryterarnas upplevelse stämde överens i förhållande till de antaganden som existerade om arbetspsykologisk testning. Då rekryterares upplevelse av personlighetstest var ett relativt outforskat område, ansågs studien bidra till de kunskapsluckor som förelåg inom forskningsfältet. Genomförandet baserades på en kvalitativ forskningsmetod med semistrukturerade intervjuer. Ett målstyrt urval tillämpades där 13 rekryterare strategiskt valdes ut för att skapa överenstämmelse mellan studiens syfte och urval. Intervjuerna transkriberades och tolkades genom tematisk analys för att bidra med en riklig och detaljerad information. Resultatet visade tre huvudteman, vilka definierades som motiv till användning, användbarhet och risker. Rekryterarna hade en relativt samstämmig bild av den praktiska användningen av personlighetstest. Samtliga rekryterare ansåg att det var en användbar urvalsmetod vid rekrytering under förutsättning att det användes korrekt. Främst betonades vikten av att använda personlighetstest som ett komplement och att det enbart bör vara en del av kandidatens helhetsbedömning. I förhållande till existerande antaganden om arbetspsykologisk testning stämde rekryterarnas upplevelse till viss del överens med den vetenskapliga litteraturen. Skillnaden var att rekryterarna hade en mer stabil syn på personlighet och högre tilltro till att personlighetstest kan predicera framtida arbetsprestation. Dessutom betraktades varken fusk eller kulturella skillnader som en betydande problematik. Att det fanns en inkongruens mellan forskning och praktisk användning förklarades genom att rekryterarna i vissa avseenden hade en bristande kunskap om personlighetstest. Detta framhävdes som en risk, då det i kombination med en vinstinriktad marknad kunde bidra till opålitliga personlighetstest samt en ovetenskapligt förankrad användning.

    För att uppnå en hög prestation på företag satsas miljontals kronor på ledarskapsutveckling varje år. Det huvudsakliga syftet med dessa är att utveckla medarbetarna genom sina chefer. Trots detta glöms medarbetarperspektivet ofta bort när dessa insatser utvärderas. Studiens syfte är därför att undersöka medarbetarnas upplevelser av sina chefer efter att de hade genomgått en ledarskapsutveckling på XY Energy Organization (fiktivt namn). En förstudie låg till grund för intervjuguiden till datainsamlingen. Fallstudien bestod av tolv (n=12) kvalitativa semistrukturerade medarbetarintervjuer som sedan analyserades tematiskt. Detta gav författarna möjligheten att jämföra medarbetarnas upplevelse med ledarskapsutvecklingens struktur. Resultatet visade att medarbetarna upplevde insatsen som positiv både när är det kommer till sina chefers ledaregenskaper och företagets organisationskultur. Den positiva medarbetarupplevelsen kan förklaras genom att ledarskapsutvecklingen lade stor vikt vid medarbetarperspektivet och att individanpassa insatsen till cheferna. Den var även omfattande, långsiktig, anpassad till det vardagliga arbetet och utgick från ett aktivt lärande. Förbättringsområden hade varit att följa upp insatsen bättre efteråt, samt att förbättra organisationens intranät för att utveckla kommunikationen inom organisationen ytterligare.
