    Abstract [en]

    This thesis is based on a case study at ITAB ScanFlow AB (ISF), which is part of the ITAB Group. It is a company that works daily in projects that develop cash flow system solutions. A project can either be based on innovative ideas or on the wishes of customers. This thesis focuses on projects that have a high degree of customization. A common problem in the company is that projects expand in scope, meaning that the time plan is exceeded, and unnecessary costs connected to poor quality arise.

    To work effectively on a daily basis requires that a project model exists and is followed. We found that ISF does not work according to any project model. By working according to a project model, there are greater chances to continuously be achieving good results from each project. Project may have different characteristics depending on the type of project model chosen. Project models can be divided into four main areas Serial, Parallel, Agile and Dynamic.

    The data collection of the study has been conducted through interviews and literature studies to describe the company's current situation. It has given a clear picture of how their way of working in projects with a high degree of customer customization looks. Analysis of the current way of working description has then been analyzed to identify opportunities for improvement, and which solutions can solve the identified improvement opportunities.

    The result of the report shows a proposal that ISF could implement and apply in their operations. Implementation of our proposed solution would create a clear structure as well as eliminate any unnecessary cost incurred by quality deficiencies. The proposal is primarily created to be applied in projects that have a high degree of customization but could also be modified to work in other types of projects in ISF’s operations.
