    Abstract [en]

    Light therapy is applied to older people with dementia as a treatment to reset the biological clock, to improve the cognitive functioning, and to reduce behavioral symptoms. Although the methodological quality of light therapy studies is essential, many aspects concerning the description of the lighting applied are missing. This study reviewed light therapy studies concerning the effects on people with dementia as a way to check the methodological quality of the description of light from a light engineering perspective. Twelve studies meeting the inclusion criteria were chosen for further analysis. Each study was scored on a list of aspects relevant to a proper description of lighting aspects. The overview demonstrates that the overall quality of the methodologies is poor. The studies describe the lighting insufficiently and not in the correct metrics. The robustness of light therapy studies can be improved by involving a light engineer or specialist.

    Abstract [en]

    Long-term care facilities are currently installing dynamic lighting systems with the aim to improve the well-being and behaviour of residents with dementia. The aim of this study was to investigate the implementation of dynamic lighting systems from the perspective of stakeholders and the performance of the technology. Therefore, a questionnaire survey was conducted with the management and care professionals of six care facilities. Moreover, light measurements were conducted in order to describe the exposure of residents to lighting. The results showed that the main reason for purchasing dynamic lighting systems lied in the assumption that the well-being and day/night rhythmicity of residents could be improved. The majority of care professionals were not aware of the reasons why dynamic lighting systems were installed. Despite positive subjective ratings of the dynamic lighting systems, no data were collected by the organizations to evaluate the effectiveness of the lighting. Although the care professionals stated that they did not see any large positive effects of the dynamic lighting systems on the residents and their own work situation, the majority appreciated the dynamic lighting systems more than the old situation. The light values measured in the care facilities did not exceed the minimum threshold values reported in the literature. Therefore, it seems illogical that the dynamic lighting systems installed in the researched care facilities will have any positive health effects.

    Abstract [en]

    When determining the effects of light on human beings, it is essential to correctly measure the effects, and to correctly measure the adequate properties of light. Therefore, it is important to know what is being measured and know the quality of the measurement devices. This paper describes simple methods for identifying three quality indices; the directional response index, the linearity index and the temperature index. These indices are also checked for several commonly used portable light measurement devices. The results stresses what was already assumed, the quality and the outcome of these devices under different circumstances were very different. Also, the location were these devices are normally worn has an impact on the results. The deviation range between worn vertically at eye level and the wrist is between 11% (outdoor) to 27% (indoor). The smallest deviation, both in indoor and outdoor, was found when the device was placed on the sides of the eye (7%).

    A Simulation Framework for Efficient Search in P2P Networks with 8-Point HyperCircles2008Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 20 poäng / 30 hpOppgave
    Abstract [en]

    This report concerns the implementation of a simulation framework to evaluate an emerging peer-to-peer network topology scheme using 8-point hypercircles, entitled HyperCircle. This topology was proposed in order to alleviate some of the drawbacks of current P2P systems evolving in an uncontrolled manner, such as scalability issues, network overload and long search times. The framework is supposed to be used to evaluate the advantages of this new topology. The framework has been built on top of an existing simulator software solution, the selection of which was an important part of the development. Weighing different variables such as scalability and API usability, the selection fell on OverSim, an open-source discreet-event simulator based on OMNET++.

    After formalizing the protocol for easier implementation, as well as extending it for better performance, implementation followed using C++ with OverSim’s API and simulation library. Implemented as a module (alongside other stock modules providing their own protocols such as Chord and Kademlia), it can be used in OverSim to simulate a user-defined network using one of the simulation routine applications provided (or using a custom application written by the user). For the purposes of this thesis, the standard application KBRTestApp was used; an application sending test messages between randomly selected nodes, while adding and removing nodes at specific time intervals. The adding and removing of nodes can be configured with probability parameters.

    Tentative testing shows that this implementation of the HyperCircle protocol has a certain performance gain over the OverSim implementations of the Chord and Kademlia protocols, measurable in the time it takes a message to get from sender to recipient. Further testing is outside the scope of this thesis.

    Abstract [en]

    A major concern for companies today is the necessity to manufacture a wide range of products with short lead times and at a low cost. This puts greater demands on companies to have a good product mix and volume flexibility while maintaining a high level of efficiency. In addition, companies need to be aware of the source of unknown losses in their organisation and production process in order to minimise them.  This study was conducted at Corroventa avfuktning AB in Bankeryd, Sweden, a company that specialises in products that are used to dehumidify buildings and neutralise radon radiation. Their production process mainly focuses on maintaining stock levels, but adverse weather conditions that cause flooding and water damage could push demand levels to a point where they are unable to guarantee a short enough lead time to win a customer order. This puts pressure on them to make their production process more flexible and efficient while reducing their lead time.  The case study was carried out in a pre-assembly department for the final assembly of adsorption dehumidifiers. The department had been identified as a bottleneck for the whole system during high demand, and the study was undertaken to identify the underlying problem. With a firm theoretical framework and in-depth status analysis the authors identified key areas to improve the overall performance of the pre-assembly department. The improvements included a new production layout, a more balanced assembly process and a reduction in material handling. This led to improved product mix and volume flexibility, and reduced lead times. As a final step, a discussion and conclusion has been written that discusses the validity and reliability of the study, sums up all the areas of improvement and determines further studies that need to be undertaken in order to facilitate future improvements throughout the plant.

    Abstract [en]

    This projects aims to develop design automation in product development. Design automation causes increase in producibility and decrease in product cost and manufacturing lead time.

    The study at hand is proposed to provide a new method and to introduce procedure to the design of wiring pattern for a car seat heater for Kongsberg Automotive, KA. KA is a Norwegian company and a global provider of engineering, design, and manufacture for seat comfort, driver and motion control systems, fluid assemblies, and industrial driver interface products. The method that currently is used in the company to create a wiring pattern is neither sufficient enough nor automated.

    In order to design the wiring pattern, at first procedure is handled by the designer. Secondly, car seat heater 2D layout is imported and then, the dimensions of the elements are defined as constraints. Then VBA codes are opened and the program is run. The result will be a wiring pattern in different 2D layouts. To make the design process easier, we have modeled five different layouts; wiring pattern of one element, two elements, three elements, five elements (with two back sides) and one element trapezoidal 2D layout.

    The algorithm written in VBA (Visual basic for application) creates the pattern according to the dimensions of the elements which are used as inputs to define constrained parameters. The created macros are simple to use and easy to modify, independent from the programming knowledge. The user is only responsible with parameter input and running the program. The solution gives wiring pattern for a car seat heater.

    Abstract [en]

    Purpose: The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to improve the usage of BIM in facility projects.

    Method: The methods used for this bachelor thesis are qualitative interviews and literature studies.

    Findings: Free programs will be available for usage where models can be opened, viewed, examined and studied. The small and medium-sized facility companies will not be forced to use resources to cope with the requirements of Trafikverket.

    Implications: Consequences are that the small and medium-sized civil engineering companies understand and follow the requirements.

    • Using more 3D models to gain more experience and skills in the subject.

    • Attend the Trafikverkets industry days when opportunities arise, the authors believe that it was very instructive.

    • Engage in more BIM projects.

    • Older projects where the drawings are in 2D is converted into 3D.

     

    Limitations: How BIM is used during the management process will not be covered.

    Abstract [en]

    An ontology is an explicit specification of conceptualization which intended to capture and formalize the domain knowledge. The ontologies that formalize knowledge about life sciences are biomedical ontologies. The biomedical ontologies are consisted of concepts (are central units of description) which are used for unambiguous and consistent naming of biomedical data and events. The events refer the tasks, providing descriptions of actions among one or more entities in biomedical domain.

     

    The purpose of study is to understand how the terms are composed in biomedical event ontologies. What are the term patterns exist between biomedical terms? How to represent these term patterns? How to categorize according to part-of-speech? The most important is the identification of primary and secondary events in biomedical event ontology terms and their location in biomedical terms patters.

     

    The proposed method produces Finite State Machine explained in the results chapter 4. The FSM identify the primary event e.g. last token of biomedical term and secondary event is immediately followed by preposition in biomedical term. The FSM is a computation model which is used to design for computer programs. FSM is an abstract machine which can be easily programmed and thus is a step towards automatic event extraction which will further lead us to develop the domain specific application, e.g. semantic search, event database curation support, event extraction and event annotations.

     

    For our study, we selected Gene Ontology (GO). The GO provides ontologies of gene products in three separate domains (i) Cellular components (ii) Molecular functions (iii) Biomedical process for our thesis we have selected biomedical process. For the compositional and structural analysis, a biomedical term is broken down into words, and each word is called as “token”. This process is called tokenization of terms. The tokens are categorized according to natural language grammar such as noun, adjectives, preposition, relational adjectives, etc.

    After categorization of tokens on the basis of POS tagging, and the conversion into abbreviation form the resulting form is called as a biomedical term pattern. After collecting the sample of biomedical term patterns we generalized these term patterns and built Finite State Machines.

     

    The research proposed Finite State Machine which provide abstract and concise view of the structure and composition of biomedical terms in biomedical event ontologies. Finite State Machine helps in identification of biomedical events (primary and secondary) in biomedical terms and their possible locations. These Finite State Machines can be used to build computer programs. The computer program will help in building domain specific application e.g. biomedical event corpus, annotation for biomedical event terms, etc.

     

    The results (and evaluation of results) represent that FSMs are the generalized solution to explain the structure of biomedical terms, can identify the events and their locations in biomedical event ontologies.

    The growth of Internet video and over-the-top transmission techniqueshas enabled online video service providers to deliver highquality video content to viewers. To maintain and improve thequality of experience, video providers need to detect unexpectedissues that can highly affect the viewers’ experience. This requiresanalyzing massive amounts of video session data in order to findunexpected sequences of events. In this paper we combine sequentialpattern mining and clustering to discover such event sequences.The proposed approach applies sequential pattern mining to findfrequent patterns by considering contextual and collective outliers.In order to distinguish between the normal and abnormal behaviorof the system, we initially identify the most frequent patterns. Thena clustering algorithm is applied on the most frequent patterns.The generated clustering model together with Silhouette Index areused for further analysis of less frequent patterns and detectionof potential outliers. Our results show that the proposed approachcan detect outliers at the system level.

    Abstract [en]

    Outlier detection has been studied in many domains. Outliers arise due to different reasons such as mechanical issues, fraudulent behavior, and human error. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised approach for outlier detection in a sequence dataset. The proposed approach combines sequential pattern mining, cluster analysis, and a minimum spanning tree algorithm in order to identify clusters of outliers. Initially, the sequential pattern mining is used to extract frequent sequential patterns. Next, the extracted patterns are clustered into groups of similar patterns. Finally, the minimum spanning tree algorithm is used to find groups of outliers. The proposed approach has been evaluated on two different real datasets, i.e., smart meter data and video session data. The obtained results have shown that our approach can be applied to narrow down the space of events to a set of potential outliers and facilitate domain experts in further analysis and identification of system level issues.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study is to improve the monitoring and controlling of heating systems located at customer buildings through the use of a decision support system. To achieve this, the proposed system applies a two-step classifier to detect manual changes of the temperature of the heating system. We apply data from the Swedish company NODA, active in energy optimization and services for energy efficiency, to train and test the suggested system. The decision support system is evaluated through an experiment and the results are validated by experts at NODA. The results show that the decision support system can detect changes within three days after their occurrence and only by considering daily average measurements.

    Customer Demand Uncertainty is a big obstacle for companies to sustain their competitiveness in the market that responding customer requirements becomes essential. Besides companies need to consider also their cost structures which should have in high consistency to survive as well. Lean and Agile terminologies have been investigated so far in cost and responsiveness to customer manner within internal system perspective i.e. product volume and variety. This thesis aims to link lean manufacturing steps with customer demand uncertainty condition following information systems, marketing issues and human factor for management level in framework that firm’s (manufacturer) current condition can be tested according to answers from questionnaires and implementation of assessment tables since it is used as guideline and provides on which level firms are in demand uncertainty, lean and agile manufacturing. This support enables to firms to create their own flexible leagile decoupling point according to their interior characteristics and capabilities in the market.

    This Master’s thesis is aimed at improving the management of artifacts in the context of a joint-project between Jönköping University with the SEMCO project and industrial partner, a company involved in developing software for safety components. Both have a slightly distinct interest but this project can serve both parties.

    Nowadays feature modelling is efficient way for domain analysis. The purpose of this master thesis is to analysis existing four popular feature diagrams, to find out commonalities between each of them and conclude results to give suggestions of how to use existing notation systems efficiently and according to situations.

    The developed software based on knowledge established from research analysis. Two notation systems which are suggested in research part of the thesis report are implemented in the developed software “NotationManager”. The development procedures are also described and developer choices are mentioned along with the comparisons according to the situations

    Scope of the research part as well as development is discussed. Future work for developed solution is also suggested.

    Planners in Norrköping municipality today facing a challenge to meet Norrköping'sneeds in the housing market, while at the same time achieving demand for public places and areas such as parks, squares and nature areas. When existing areas within the city's borders are built, so-called densification takes place in the city, whichcan have both positive and negative consequences. The aim of this study is to investigatehow the densification has affected Norrköping's inner city from a social and ecologicalperspective with a focus on free space, and present proposals for measures forbetter management of the densification in central Norrköping.

    This study has mainly been carried out using a qualitative research method.A qualitative study is based on soft data such as interviews, document analysis and literature studies. The interviews have been conducted with respondents from Norrköpings municipality and the document analysis consists of steering documents obtained from Norrköpings municipality and Pontarius AB. Some data is obtained from documents and studies where results are presented in the form of tables, diagrams, figures and GIS analysis, which means that quantitative methods are also applied.

    To perform a safer densification, it is important that the municipality establishes safe guidelines and steering documents to relate to. These control documents should be used as a framework for efficient exploitation and ensure that the city's freeareas are developed from a sustainable perspective and that a good quality is includedin the development.

    It is advantageous that the development of the densification takes placeaccording to guidelines and documentation prepared by the municipality. To ensure maximum efficiency in exploitation, these guidelines should be followed at an early stage. It is also important that there is a balance of free space size and their quality. Too small a surface leads to a higher load and larger surfaces can be perceived as superfluousand a feeling of unsecure. It is recommended to study how the densification developsin connection with the infrastructure and how it will affect free and green areas in the long run.

    This study is limited to only the inner city of Norrköping. The study also delimits economic and political factors that can influence the planning of the densification and the development of the city’s infrastructure and public transport.

    This paper deals with solutions to the Cauchy problem for the spatially homogeneous non-linear Boltzmann equation. The main result is that for the hard sphere kernel, a solution to the Boltzmann equation converges strongly in L1 to equilibrium given that the initial data f0 belongs to L1(R^3;(1+v^2)dv). This was previously known to be true with the additional assumption that f0logf0 belonged to L1(R^3). For the proof of the main theorem, new regularising effects for the gain term in the collision operator are derived, and previous results concerning uniform bounds on the time it takes for a solution to the Boltzmann equation to reach equilibrium are extended.

    Syfte: När städerna växer i allt snabbare takt behövs nya platser att bygga bostäder på. De kommuner som växer väljer allt oftare att bebygga platser som tidigare ratats på grund av bland annat buller. Från statens sida finns det krav på hur stor bullernivån får vara. Kraven har sitt ursprung i att över två miljoner svenskar utsätts för buller dagligen. Buller kan leda till hälsoproblematik, i form av sömnstörningar och hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar. För att minska hälsoproblemen görs bullerutredningar, där förslag hur bullernivåerna kan minskas ges. Syftet med arbetet är att ge läsaren kunskap i vilka faktorer som påverkar bullerutredningar och tillvägagångssättet vid valet av bullerreducerande åtgärder så att byggnation närmare trafikerad väg kan möjliggöras.

    Metod: De metoder som använts i arbetet är litteraturstudie, dokumentanalys och intervjuer. Den litteratur som samlats in består av vetenskapliga artiklar. Dokumenten består av bullerutredningar genomförda av olika företag på olika platser i Sverige. Utifrån bullerutredningarna har personer att intervjua valts. De personer som intervjuats har utfört några av de bullerutredningar som använts i dokumentanalysen.

    Resultat: För att besvara rapportens syfte ställdes tre frågeställningar upp. Den första frågeställningen behandlar bullerreducerande tekniker, vilka tekniker som används idag. I rapporten framkom det att det finns ett flertal sätt att reducera buller. I följande ordning rangordnas de som mest frekvent använda: tyst sida, bullerskärm, hastighetsminskning, avstånd mellan hus och väg, vegetation, flytt av väg och tyst asfalt. I rapportens andra frågeställning behandlas vilka faktorer som påverkar valet av bullerreducerande åtgärd. Från litteraturstudien framkom absorption, reflektion och reduktion som viktiga faktorer. I dokumentanalysen framkom omgivning, trafik och hastighet som viktiga faktorer. I intervjuerna framkom estetik och pris som viktiga vid val av reducerande åtgärd. I den tredje frågeställningen behandlas frågan om hur byggnation närmare väg kan möjliggöras. I resultatet framkommer det att alla lösningar som tidigare nämnts har förmåga att reducera buller, men hur effektiva de är och hur bra de reducerar buller varierar från fall till fall. Omgivning och trafikmängd har stor betydelse.

    Konsekvenser: Att utnyttja de tekniska lösningar som tidigare beskrivits ger en minskad bullernivå och således kan byggnation nära trafikerad väg möjliggöras. Att utföra en bullerutredning i ett tidigt skede medför att senare och dyrare ändringar kan undvikas, vilket gör att byggnationen kan ske snabbare. Rapporten föreslår att bullerproblematiken ska beaktas tidigt i projekt, detta för att skapa en lösning som alla i projektet kan acceptera.

    Begränsningar: Rapportens resultat är begränsat till ett mindre urval av bullerutredningar och intervjuer. Fler utredningar och intervjuer hade bidragit till ett större spektrum. Rapporten tar enbart hänsyn till buller utomhus och vilka möjligheter till bullerreduktion det finns.

    Examensarbetet som utförts vid Jönköpings tekniska högskola har syftet att konstruera en audioförstärkare. Målet var att åstadkomma goda prestanda på den valda audioförskartypen. Den utvalda varianten utvärderas med avseende på dess prestanda. Audioförstärkaren bör ha följande egenskaper: En kanal med en uteffekt på minst 40W samt ett frekvensområde på 20Hz till 20KHz, utan att använda sig av integrerade komponenter. Temat för rapporten bygger på analysering av konstruktionskretsen och en detaljerad beskrivning av ingående delar samt jämförelse med andra kopplingar med liknande funktion. Metoderna som har använts för att komma fram till resultatet är följande: Litteraturstudier av bl.a. [1],[3] och [6]. Den andra metoden var att testa konstruktionskretsscheman genom att koppla upp det på ett kopplingsdäck. Det som utfördes vid slutfasen var konstruktionen m h a CIRCAD och diverse simuleringar m h a Multisim. Efter genomgången av de olika momenten som arbetet medförde, gav insikten att det krävs mycket kunskap för att ha förståelse om hur en audioförstärkare fungerar. Denna studie gav inblick på de mest relevanta huvuddelarna som krävs för att kunna konstruera en audioförstärkare med önskade prestanda.

    BACKGROUND: Seasonal variations in physiology and behavior have frequently been reported. Light is the major zeitgeber for synchronizing internal circadian rhythms with the external solar day. Non-image forming effects of light radiation, for example, phase resetting of the circadian rhythms, melatonin suppression, and acute alerting effects, depend on several characteristics of the light exposure including intensity, timing and duration, spectral composition and previous light exposure, or light history. The aim of the present study was to report on the natural pattern of diurnal and seasonal light exposure and to examine seasonal variations in the circadian change of melatonin and cortisol concentrations for a group of Swedish office workers.

    METHODS: Fifteen subjects participated in a field study that was carried out in the south of Sweden. Ambulatory equipment was used for monthly measurements of the daily exposure to light radiation across the year. The measurements included illuminance and irradiance. The subjects collected saliva samples every 4 h during 1 day of the monthly measuring period.

    RESULTS: The results showed that there were large seasonal differences in daily amount of light exposure across the year. Seasonal differences were observed during the time periods 04:00-08:00, 08:00-12:00, 12:00-16:00, 16:00-20:00, and 20:00-24:00. Moreover, there were seasonal differences regarding the exposure pattern. The subjects were to a larger extent exposed to light in the afternoon/evening in the summer. During the winter, spring, and autumn, the subjects received much of the daily light exposure in the morning and early afternoon. Regarding melatonin, a seasonal variation was observed with a larger peak level during the winter and higher levels in the morning at 07:00.

    CONCLUSIONS: This study adds to the results from other naturalistic studies by reporting on the diurnal and seasonal light exposure patterns for a group living at a northern latitude of 56° N, with large annual variations in photoperiod length. It seems to be seasonal variation in the lighting conditions, both concerning intensities as well as regarding the pattern of the light exposure to which people living at high latitudes are exposed which may result in seasonal variation in the circadian profile of melatonin.

    Reliable measurements are of utmost importance when investigating the relationship between light and human reactions. The aim of the present study was to compare two methods for measuring light exposure in real working environments. Ambulatory recordings of illuminance and irradiance were compared with static field measurements of horizontal illuminance at the normal working position, average horizontal illuminance in the room, vertical illuminance at the position of the eye in the normal angle of gaze, and spectral composition of the light radiation at the normal working position and at the position of the eye in the normal angle of gaze. The ambulatory measurements were carried out during a 3-day experimental period and were repeated monthly throughout the year. The static field measurements in the subjects’ offices were conducted five times during the year, in the morning and afternoon during one day. The relationship between the illuminances and irradiances measured with the portable instruments and the static measurements was statistically analyzed. Results from the analyses revealed that more than one third of the static measurements of vertical illuminances recorded were below 200 lx, and only 7% of the measurements exceeded 1000 lx. Measurements of the spectral composition of the light radiation in the rooms suggested that the light, although at a fairly low intensity, included relatively much radiation that can have a non-image forming effect. Furthermore, only a small number of significant correlations between the ambulatory and static measurements were found. Results from the t-tests showed that there were no differences between ambulatory measurements, and static measurements of horizontal illuminance at the normal position, average illuminance in the room and vertical illuminance at the position of the eye during three, five, and seven of the 10 measurements, respectively. There is a need to define appropriate parameters in order to describe the quality of a lit environment with respect to the non-image-forming effects of light radiation.

    The purpose of the study was to investigate seasonal variation in mood and behavior among a group of office workers in Sweden (56°N). Thirty subjects participated in this longitudinal study. The subjects kept a weekly log that included questionnaires for ratings of psychological wellbeing and daily sleep-activity diaries where they also noted time spent outdoors. The lighting conditions in the offices were subjectively evaluated during one day, five times over the year. There was a seasonal variation in positive affect and in sleep-activity behavior. Across the year, there was a large variation in the total time spent outdoors in daylight. The subjects reported seasonal variation concerning the pleasantness, variation and strength of the light in the offices and regarding the visibility in the rooms. Finally, the subjects spent most of their time indoors, relying on artificial lighting, which demonstrates the importance of the lighting quality in indoor environments.

    Lighting is crucial for vision and has important effects beyond vision, influencing a variety of physiological and behavioral processes. When designing lighting, visual aspects, effects beyond vision, and perception of the environment should be considered together in a holistic approach. As humans evolved under daylight, a lighting protocol, based on a room context and daylight characteristics, was developed and described. The lighting, with customized light levels, spectral composition and light distribution that changed dynamically to evoke a perception of daylight conditions, was realized using commercially available luminaires and a digital control system. The resulting lighting conditions are described by measurements.

    Ljusforskning är om något diversifierad och omfattar teorier och metoder från skilda discipliner som teknik, medicin och samhällsvetenskap. Det finns också en förväntan att erhållna forskningsresultat skall kunna appliceras direkt i verkliga miljöer. I och med introduktionen av LED har många tidigare studier som behandlat glödlampor, lysrör och andra ljuskällor inaktualiserats. Ny kunskap - och ny forskning - krävs.

    En inventering av aktuell humanrelaterad LED-forskning genomfördes under 2013. Med utgångspunkt i detta material har föreliggande forskningsöversikt sammanställts. Totalt omfattar denna drygt 400 artiklar, som redovisas under följande rubriker: Den biologiska klockan; Flimmer och dimring av LED; Energibesparing: dagsljus och ljusstyrning; Färgåtergivning; Bländning och slutligen; Upplevda ljuskvaliteter.

    Såväl bakomliggande teoretiska resonemang som det aktuella kunskapsläget redovisas i de olika avsnitten. Efter varje avsnitt ges också referenser till relevanta forskningspublikationer. Samtliga publikationer har försetts med två eller flera svenska nyckelord, som anger publikationens innehåll. Publikationerna har sedan delars in i kategorier enligt avsnitten ovan. Efter varje avsnitt redovisas de publikationer på vilka texten baserar sig, med nyckelord. I ett slutavsnitt redovisas samtliga LED-publikationer i alfabetisk ordning efter författare och med nyckelord.

    In order to reach an acceptable level of confidence in the quality of a software product, testing of the software is paramount. To obtain "good" quality software it is essential to rely on "good" test cases. To define the criteria for what make up for a "good" test case is not a trivial task. Over the past 15 years, a short list of publications have presented criteria for "good" test cases but without ranking them based on their importance. This paper presents a non-exhaustive and non-authoritative tentative list of 15 criteria and a ranking of their relative importance. A number of the criteria come from previous publications but also from discussions with our industrial partners. The ranking is based on results collected via a questionnaire that was sent out to a limited number of randomly chosen respondents in the Swedish software industry. This means that the results are more indicative than conclusive.

    Reshoring decision support in a Swedish context2018Konferansepaper (Fagfellevurdert)
    Abstract [en]

    This paper presents a decision-support system for reshoring decision-making based on fuzzy logic. The construction and functionality of the decision-support system are described, and the functionality is evaluated in a high cost environment exemplified through a Swedish context. Ten different reshoring scenarios, provided by Swedish reshoring experts, are entered into the decision-support system and the decision recommendations provided by the system are presented. The confidence that can be put on the recommendations is demonstrated by comparing them with those of the reshoring experts. The positive results obtained indicate that fuzzy logic is both feasible and that the quality of the results are sufficiently good for reshoring decision-making.

    Abstract [en]

    Quality of the castings is affected by several factors which the designer should take into consideration during the product development process. Although residual stress is one of those, it is often not considered in practical computations. Hence residual stresses are one of the forgotten areas in designing of machine parts. This master thesis is focused on the investigation of residual stresses in a high pressure die casted component, with the aim of extending its service life, by taking results from the study as a feedback.

    The investigation of residual stresses was done on a variety of specimens, cast aluminum flywheel, provided by Husqvarna AB. This flywheel is a component in a product of the same company.In evaluating the residual stresses in the part, two tools-simulation and physical measurement were used. Moreover, comparison with these two methods is also done at an area of interest on the flywheel. The simulation was carried out by using MAGMAhpdc-a module for high pressure die casting process, from the commercial software package MAGMAsoft; while for the physical measurements, the hole drilling method was used, a method believed to be less accurate at low stresses areas.

    The findings obtained from this study show that the results from both procedures are close, with small deviations observed, which reveals the reliability of the hole drilling method even when the stress levels are low. It is also found that the compressive residual stresses dominate in the component-a preferred phenomenon with regards to residual stress.

    Abstract [en]

    Information visualization can be valuable in a wide range of applications, it deals with abstract, non-spatial data and with the representation of data elements in a meaningful form irrespective of the size of the data, because sometimes visualization itself focuses on the certain key aspects of the data in the representation and thus it helps by providing ease for the goal oriented interpretation. Information visualization focuses on providing a spontaneous and deeper level of the understanding of the data.

    Research collaboration enhances sharing knowledge and also enhances an individual’s talent. New ideas are generated when knowledge is shared and transferred among each other. According to (He et al, 2009) Research collaboration has been considered as a phenomenon of growing importance for the researchers, also it should be encouraged and is considered to be a “good thing” among the researchers.

    The main purpose of this thesis work is to prepare a model for the competence profile visualization purpose. For this purpose the study of different visualization techniques that exist in the field of information visualization are discussed in this thesis work. The study and discussion about the visualization techniques motivates in selecting appropriate visualization techniques for the visualization of Ontology-based competence profiles for research collaboration purpose. A proof of concept is developed which shows how these visualization techniques are applied to visualize several components of competence profile.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis represents the ontological model for the Time Aspects for a Healthcare Organization. It provides information about activities which take place at different interval of time at Ryhov Hospital. These activities are series of actions which may be happen in predefined sequence and at predefined times or may be happen at any time in a General ward or in Emergency ward of a Ryhov Hospital.

    For achieving above mentioned objective, our supervisor conducts a workshop at the start of thesis. In this workshop, the domain experts explain the main idea of ward activities. From this workshop; the author got a lot of knowledge about activities and time aspects. After this, the author start literature review for achieving valuable knowledge about ward activities, time aspects and also methodology steps which are essentials for ontological model. After developing ontological model for Time Aspects, our supervisor also conducts a second workshop. In this workshop, the author presents the model for evaluation purpose.

    Syftet med arbetet är att analysera utformningen av planlösningarna i prefabricerade småhus. Resultatet ska kunna utnyttjas som underlag vid planlösningsutformning och möjliggöra planlösningar med färre kundändringar.  

    Metoder som används är litteraturstudier, intervjuer och en fallstudie. Fallstudien är gjord med material från företaget Anebyhus som tillverkar prefabricerade småhus. Ur en av deras kataloger valdes tre olika hus med snarlika förutsättningar. Det som analyseras är tillverkares och kunders prioriteringar samt de vanligaste kundändringarna. Problemet är att om kunden ska bli nöjd med den slutliga planlösningen måste kunden och tillverkaren ha liknande kvalitetsprioriteringar. Ändringar som återkommer frekvent är ett tecken på en svaghet i ursprungsplanlösningen.

    Resultaten visar att tillverkare av prefabricerade småhus möter kundernas behov och önskemål genom prioriteringar av livslångtboende och flexibilitet i planlösningen. Kunderna visar prioritering av mer bänkytor i köket, vardagsrummet storlek och samband till köket och att alla i familjen ska få varsitt sovrum. De kundändringar som förekommer mest frekvent är minskning av antalet klädkammare, sammanslagning av teknik och klädvård samt att ändra till en U-formad köksuppställning.

    Abstract [en]

    An activity decomposition methodology with theoretical foundation in the principles of activity control and stated focus of interest in the enterprise value-chain is presented. Characteristics of inputs and outputs are discussed, where a set of non-transformable inputs are defined and motivated. An integrated partial efficiency measure is formulated, compensating for some weaknesses of the Debreu-Farrell technical efficiency concept. Providing a coherent basis for productivity analysis, the IPE approach poses an alternative to e.g. DEA especially in the case of multi-level systems and sparse data. The method is easily communicable in terms of measurement and analysis, and may be extended to complement economic performance assessments and benchmarks.

    Abstract [en]

    A multi-criteria formulation for continuous and discrete-time dynamic systems is presented. The fundamental problem in the design of dynamic systems is the trade-off between response speed (e.g., the time to reach final value and the raise time) and response smoothness (e.g., the overshoot, the undershoot, and the transient dampening). Separate optimisation of criteria is impossible, thus the problem is inherently multiobjective. In a general dynamic system, this is accomplished by adjusting a number of technical parameters in accordance with some ad hoc practice. Previous multi-criteria approaches have been modelled as weighted sums of criteria, with shortcomings in terms of sensitivity analysis and preference articulation. The proposed framework enables the decision maker to design a most preferred system, with full knowledge of local trade-off ratios in terms of chosen criteria. Combining analytical techniques with simulation, the formulation makes the optimisation process transparent to the decision maker, working entirely in decision space. The framework is demonstrated on a dynamic production-inventory model.

    Det behövs mer forskning kring vad som ger människan goda förutsättningar till livskvalitet i en bostadsmiljö. Social hållbarhet är ett ämne som arkitekturvärlden värnar om mer än någonsin. Målet är att ta fram ett kunskapsunderlag baserat på erfarenheter från brukare, arkitekt samt beställare som kan användas till gestaltning av bostadsområden med flerbostadshus.

    För att uppnå målet besvaras frågeställningarna ”Hur värderas socialt hållbart boende, enligt arkitekter och beställare, när bostadsområden med flerbostadshus utformas?” samt ”Hur upplevs det som värderas som socialt hållbart, i bostadsområden med nyproducerade flerbostadshus, av brukare?” Frågeställningarna besvaras med hjälp av en enkätundersökning och intervjuer som tillsammans utgör en kvalitativ forskningsmetod.

    Resultatet visar att social hållbarhet kan ses ur olika vinklar. Det är vanligt att se på social hållbarhet ur ett samhällsperspektiv och ur en stads perspektiv i enlighet med vetenskapliga referenser. Som en övergripande sammanfattning är det en byggnads vackra form, utseende och dess funktionsduglighet som vägs in med en rimlig kostnad som skapar ett socialt hållbart boende enligt intervjuer med arkitekt och beställare. Det handlar om en balansgång mellan skönhet, funktion och ekonomi som tillsammans skapar ett boende som håller över tiden och bekräftar människans sociala värdighet. Enligt de som bor på området Nysäter i Mölnlycke som är det studerade objektet, handlar socialt hållbart boende om trivsel, trygghet, privatliv och samhörighet. Tillgång till natur och uteaktiviteter, frisk luft och god grannsämja är andra faktorer som värderas högt. Därmed har socialt hållbart boende kopplingar till både fysiskt greppbara parametrar samt icke fysiska kvaliteter som behöver sammanlänkas med varandra.

    Det sammanfattande resultatet belyser de väsentliga aspekter som bör inbegripas vid planering av ett nytt bostadsområde för att det ska bli socialt hållbart för de boende. Kunskapsunderlaget följer en logisk ordning från att analysera ett orört område med dess kvaliteter till att analysera hur den privata bostaden ska uppfylla människans behov av välbefinnande.

    Rapporten är bred i sitt ämnesval även om den begränsas till människans förhållande till bostaden och bostadsområdet i sociala sammanhang, hur individer upplever sin omgivning både i och utanför bostaden. Ytterligare begränsningar hade gjort att en djupare forskning kring ett specifikt tema hade kunnat genomföras.

    Syfte: Platsbyggd byggnadsproduktion är en komplicerad process. En tillfällig fabrik, med nya materialupplag och nytt arbetsplatsområde upprättas vid varje enskilt projekt, vilket komplicerar processen ytterligare. Materialhanteringen utgör en stor besparingsmöjlighet i byggnadsprojekt och 40 % av tiden som förloras på en byggarbetsplats kan tillskrivas materialhantering. För att få bukt med slöseri kopplat till materialhantering krävs en väl bearbetad logistikplanering, fungerande kommunikation samt kunskapsbeaktning från tidigare genomförda projekt. Studiens mål är därför att identifiera förbättringsåtgärder gällande användning av materialrutor och gångstråk, samt skapa en kommunikationsmodell för arbetsplatsdispositionsplanen (APD-planen) som stödjer erfarenhetsåterföring.

    Metod: Studien har utfört fallstudier på två projekt inom NCC:s organisation. Kvalitativ datainsamling i form av litteraturstudie, intervjuer, dokumentanalys och observation har använts. Semistrukturerade intervjuer har utförts och innefattar sju respondenter med olika befattningar inom byggbranschen.

    Resultat: Studien har tagit fram faktorer som bör beaktas vid planeringen av materialrutor och gångstråk. Vidare visar resultatet att det krävs resurser och strukturerade processer för att erfarenhetsåterföring i byggnadsprojekt skall fungera. För att lyckas med användningen av materialrutor och gångstråk krävs god kommunikation av APD-planen. I studien har även en kommunikationsmodell av APDplanen som stödjer erfarenhetsåterföring tagits fram.

    Konsekvenser: Det är under inköps- och leveransplaneringen som förutsättningarna för materialrutor och gångstråk sätts, därför bör APD-planen vara mer i fokus under detta skede. En förutsättning för att användningen av materialrutor och gångstråk skall fungera är att det finns resurser som stödjer platsledningen vid planering och utförandet. Genom att använda sig av logistikresurser inom organisationen underlättas planering och hantering av material på byggarbetsplatsen och insamlade erfarenheter kan förmedlas mellan projekt. Ute i produktionen bör det finnas en ansvarig godsmottagare som är extra insatt i APD-planen och materialrutor, genom kontinuerlig kommunikation med platsledning och logistikresurs.

    Begränsningar: Eftersom arbetet endast omfattar studie av två byggnadsprojekt finns det en begränsning i vilka faktorer och resonemang som lyfts fram. Även om resultatet grundas från två byggnadsprojekt är de grundläggande processerna och händelseförloppen vid uppförande av byggnader likartade och resultatet kan därför tillämpas på liknande byggnadsprojekt.

    Abstract [en]

    The choice of how much money and resources to spend to understand certain problems is of high interest in many areas. This work illustrates how computational models can be more tightly coupled with experiments to generate decision data at lower cost without reducing the quality of the decision. Several different strategies are explored to illustrate the trade off between lowering costs and quality in decisions.

    AUC is used as a performance metric and the number of objects that can be learnt from is constrained. Some of the strategies described reach AUC values over 0.9 and outperforms strategies that are more random. The strategies that use conformal predictor p-values show varying results, although some are top performing.

    The application studied is taken from the drug discovery process. In the early stages of this process compounds, that potentially could become marketed drugs, are being routinely tested in experimental assays to understand the distribution and interactions in humans.

    Abstract [sv]

    Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att framställa en mall för hur man projekterar KL-träbyggnader fuktsäkrare samt ta fram rekommendationer för ett mer fuktsäkert arbetssätt. KL-trä är ett nytt byggnadsmaterial där behov av standardisering finns för att uppfylla de krav och rekommendationer som finns. Större hänsyn behöver tas till fukt då människors hygien och hälsa ej skall påverkas.

    Metod: Genom insamling av data med hjälp av fallstudie av ett flerbostadshus i KL-trä framgår såväl materialhantering som utformning av stomme och väderskydd. Utformning av stomme framgår fortsatt genom dokumentanalys av konstruktionshandlingar för tre KL-trähusprojekt. Vidare framgår branschens förhållningssätt och erfarenheter genom intervjuer av personer med olika ämnesrelevanta kunskaper.

    Resultat: Genom att i tidigt projekteringsskede prioritera fuktsäkerhet för såväl uppförande- som bruksskede reduceras risken för fuktrelaterade problem. Vidare bör det kontinuerligt arbetas med fuktsäkerhet gemensamt, mellan discipliner i projektet. Byggnadsdelar att ta särskild hänsyn till samt åtgärder för att utföra detta presenteras såväl som rekommendationer för ett mer fuktsäkert arbetssätt.

    Konsekvenser: Studiens resultat skall verka som ett komplement till ByggaF, detta då resultatet behandlar KL-trä specifikt. Genom implementering är förhoppningen att resultatet skall reducera risken för fuktrelaterade problem i KL-träbyggnader. Vidare bör högre krav ställas på fuktsäkerhet vid KL-träbyggnationer, detta då resultatet av dagens arbetssätt är okänt och försiktighetsprincipen bör tillämpas.

    Begränsningar: Studiens resultat, i form av den projekteringsmall som genererats, är i huvudsak tillämpbar för arkitekter och konstruktörer då endast stommen utreds. Resultatet är generellt tillämpbart för nybyggnation av flerbostadshus i KL-trä som uppförs i Sverige. Vidare utreds åtgärder för att reducera risken för fuktrelaterade problem och avser ej människors påverkan av mikrobiell påväxt.

    The masonry heater is developed in collaboration with the company Transient Design KB that is a product development company located in Alingsås. The company sees a possibility to cover a market segment where modern technology and design are missing.

    The report presents those methods and approaches that have been used and gives an overview to how the project has been carried out. It describes how the ideas behind the final results have produced and how they have been developed during the project's time. In the report you can also read about the final concept with its choices of construction and materials.

    The report is completed with a presentation of a final concept and a ground for possible future production.

    Abstract [en]

    Many of todays studies show that district heating is one of the betteralternatives as heating source because of its low environmental load.

    The energy source is often leftovers from other processes producing energy or waste, like garbage or chips.

    Electricity in combination with geothermal heating is another heating system that has increased sharply during the last years, and also this system decreases the discharges that have negative affects

    on the environment compared to several other heating methods.

    This report aims to, concentrated towards these two different heating systems, estimate the amounts of discharges they indirect cause and how the environment is affected.

    We have calculated the mean value for discharges of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, sulphur oxide and dust generated from electrical power used in Sweden.

    Through interviews and research we have gained data for the same substances that district heating based on combustion of garbage and biofuel generates.

    We have also in cooperation with a housing company chosen a building we see representative for many of the new single-family houses built in Sweden today.

    Based on its shape and appearance we theoretically created three alternatives of the same house, each of them with climate screens different from each other.

    Together with the amounts of discharged environmental affecting substances, these houses were the base for our calculations and studies when investigating the different heating sources environmental effect.

    The results have thereafter been analyzed and discussed from different angles.

    It seems like outsourcing often does not live up to the expected results. Furthermore, sourcing decisions are often unplanned and improvised based upon insufficient short term foundation. Poor basis for sourcing decisions can lead to that some important factors, which can result in long term consequences, could get overlooked in the decision foundation.

    The purpose of the master thesis is to create a structured decision process that could lead to a well balanced sourcing decision and apply this at Husqvarna AB.

    The method used is a case study which includes a theoretical and an empirical study.

    The decision process is based upon the theoretical framework and is structured as a number of activities. Each activity includes a number of questions that should be answered if a well balanced sourcing decision is to be made. The questions are developed so that they include all the factors that could be affected by outsourcing.

    The case at Husqvarna AB was analyzed and evaluated by using the theoretical decision process. This showed how the decision process can be used by Husqvarna AB.

    The conclusion of the thesis is that the purpose was fulfilled since a decision process was developed that could be applied at Husqvarna AB.

    Increasing knowledge and suggesting new heat treatment parameters for improved very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) strength of austempered ductile iron (ADI) are the main purposes of this thesis. The work was performed within Epiroc a mining and infrastructure company. They have performed internal research on VHCF properties of ADI had previously for one set of heat treatment parameters. The scientific community in contrast have extensively studied fatigue properties of ADI in the low to high cycle regime (≤108 cycles) but only scarcely in the VHCF regime (>108 cycles). Therefor the thesis is built upon the hypothesis: ‘Improvements in HCF strength should also mean improvements in VHCF strength’. Enabling utilization of published research on heat treatment effects on fatigue strength in the HCF regime (≥107 cycles).

    Finding an efficient way of exploring heat treatment parameters and their effects on the given Cu-Ni-Mo ADI alloy were a main objective. Thus, finding mechanical- and material properties characteristic for high cycle fatigue strength in the HCF regime became crucial. The potential in using these properties to develop and execute an experimental plan to evaluate heat treatments, yet minimizing the amount of fatigue testing required.

    The first step was identifying the heat treatment parameters (and parameter ranges) that showed high HCF strength, which are: Austempering temperature (Taus), austempering time (taus) and austenitization temperature (Tγ). Then finding the characteristic mechanical- and material properties for said high HCF strength material, found to be: high- ductility, unnotched impact energy and volume fraction of carbon stabilized austenite (VRA). With both heat treatment parameters, mechanical- and material properties distinctive of high HCF strength material an experimental plan was developed based on a full factorial design (23). The factorial design was chosen for its simplicity and inherent strengths, especially as both individual and interaction effects can be estimated for all factors (heat treatment parameters). Two levels (23), one high and one low, for each of the three factors (23) were determined necessary, giving a total of 8 heat treatment trials. The primary response variables of interest (evaluated properties) for each heat treatment trial were: ductility, unnotched impact energy and volume fraction of carbon stabilized austenite. Meaning usage of the following tests: Tensile testing, impact energy testing, and X-ray diffraction. Specimens for testing were extracted from austempered Y-block type III, initially cast by a commercial foundry with an Epiroc specified chemical composition. The main and interaction effects from the heat treatment parameters on the response variables were both calculated and visually determined. The experimental data was validated against literature found data for similar heat treatments. The evaluated experimental results showed good correlation with literature for the given chemical composition. Ultimately resulting in recommendations for a new heat treatment parameters for improved high cycle fatigue strength.
