    Abstract [en]

    This paper discusses writing in the university and investigates the verbal/visual and extra verbal aspects of the process of textualizing in the context of Distance Learning. Based on the concept of academic literacy from New Literacy Studies, it discusses the relationship between chosen color and image in the process of text production developed by university students (teachers in training) in a distance Pedagogy course of a São Paulo State University, Brazil. This paper intends to contribute to the realm of Language Studies regarding the establishment of criteria to investigate the integration between various semiosis in the creation of the concept of “text” not restricted to the recognition of its graphic base.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper discusses the so-called "hidden" aspects of literacy (STREET, 2009) as indices of social presumptions (VOLOSHINOV, BAKHTIN, 2013; CORRÊA, 2011), aiming at reflecting, from a linguistic and discursive viewpoint, on the appropriation of visual communication principles currently recognized in the semiotic studies and inserted in multimodal communicative practices. The material is composed by 25 texts produced by students in semi-presential courses in the São Paulo State University, Brazil. The goal of the analysis of this material is to contribute with the literacy studies especially with regard to academic literacy studies in digital context, considering direct and/or indirect contact, increasingly frequent and precocious, between social groups and information and communication technologies.
