Abstract [en]

In this chapter we attempt to describe the process of knowledge integration. We tie our research to the concept of familiness, which is based on the resource-based view of the firm (RBV). Our empirical focus is on seven cases of Latin American family businesses. Knowledge, as a dynamic capability, is a central issue for the family business and transgenerational entrepreneurship. Knowledge integration involves a process through which family business members overcome the individual constraints imposed by limited information and experience . In our research on Latin American family businesses, we observe that the development of knowledge is fostered through conversation and joint work between individual family business members. We propose a model to illustrate the process in which family business integrate knowledge overtime.
