Abstract [en]

The degree thesis handles the development and improvement of Visingsö harbour. Today the harbour doesn’t have the quality to meet tomorrow’s requirements and is therefore in need of change. The main point is to create a living harbour with an attractive environment for visitors and locals, doing this will provide for a living and developing island. The assignment is developed together with Jönköping municipality who also is assigner.

The assignment is based on the theoretical background and the feasibility study and most be seen as a first steep in a far-reaching development.

The produced proposal of how Visingsö harbour can be developed has resulted in a number of measures and ideas which among other things have become a new area plan.

Main points in the assignment are to create a living, attractive and pleased harbour. To achieve a living harbour the existing activities has been supplemented and in some cases an entire movement has been required.

One of the main parts of the assignment is a new guest harbour and marina with complements. By creating an attractive guest harbour and marina with a high standard and service many more visitors will be drawn to Visingsö. Another quality improver is the new holiday village with nine cabins that can be rent for the night.

The communication in the harbour has also been an important task to solve because it’s a key for success. Dividing the harbour in a south part and a north part is creating two different areas. The south area is concentrated to visitors that are staying over the night and the north area is for visitors that come for the day. Through the whole area a “main road” is extended but also some new squares and open spaces for meeting and communications between people are made.
