Abstract [en]

The examination is about the way the Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter report about the Swedish first league, Allsvenskan. Are there any different aspects or maybe similarities between these two papers? I also want to see if there are any different aspects or similarities between the football teams/soccer teams these two papers write about. I have chosen Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter because they are the leading papers in each genre, Aftonbladet for the evening papers and Dagens Nyheter for the morning papers.

My examination consists of a number of randomly taken articles from the football season, which is between April and October in 2007. My main objectives with he examination is for instance to find which teams the papers prefer to write about, what subjects they write about and in what way they do this. Therefore I have decided to approach my examination with a quantitative analysis of content. I made this decision because it is the best way to compare these two papers and it makes it easier to make a generalization of the result.

My result shows that there are some different aspects in the way Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter report about Allsvenskan. Aftonbladet is more entertaining than Dagens Nyheter and report about more football teams, while Dagens Nyheter is more pertinent and concentrates on the teams from Stockholm. The teams from Stockholm and Gothenburg are the ones with the highest rate of publications. The articles that are written about the teams from Stockholm are more entertaining while the articles about the teams from Gothenburg are more pertinent. I have also found that the teams with the most qualifications and those who fight about the gold are the teams the easiest get the attention from the papers.
