Abstract [en]

This paper elaborates on the need for an interactive relation between operative development and learning during SPI (Software Process Improvement) initiatives. The character of SPI projects and change work in general is that it often is problematic to develop and implement change measures that are accepted, useful, competitive, and really are improving the system development practice. There is a need to not just put focus on the production system, in this case the system development practice, which produces the artefact but also the learning process and how to facilitate learning during SPI initiatives. During 2003 and 2004 we have been involved in an action research project that focuses the development of inter-subjective knowledge, theories and methods in order to increase the ability and competitiveness at a consultancy firm. As a result of this study we do in this paper suggest an initial framework for how theories, methods, actors and cooperation procedures can be used to facilitate development work.
