Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this thesis is to contribute towards improving the competitiveness of OEM companies by developing a supplier evaluation method that goes beyond traditional KPIs to include elements like sustainability, communication, and innovation.
Method
The research uses a multi-case study approach involving three OEM companies. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with key managers and analysed using thematic analysis.
Findings
Incorporating factors such as innovation, communication, and sustainability significantly enhances supplier evaluation. These factors are crucial for fostering long-term, strategic supplier relationships, contributing to competitive advantage and sustainable growth.
Implications
The new evaluation method offers a comprehensive framework for OEMs, encouraging suppliers to innovate and adopt sustainable practices, and enhancing supply chain management.
Limitations
Reliance on qualitative data may introduce subjectivity. Future research could include quantitative data and a broader scope.
