Abstract [en]

IntroductionThe ever-changing business landscape necessitates agility in organizations to maintain competitiveness. This study aims to explore the fundamental determinants of organizational agility across various sectors and to understand their contribution to enhanced responsiveness. Organizational agility is vital for adapting to dynamic market conditions, shifting customer demands, and competitive pressures. The core research problem addressed in this thesis is identifying the fundamental determinants of organizational agility that can be generalized across different sectors. The study aims to evaluate the extent to which these determinants contribute to enhanced responsiveness and adaptability in volatile environments.Research PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore the fundamental drivers and main factors of agility that hold relevance across various sectors. By identifying core determinants of agility that exceed sectoral limitations, the research aims to enhance understanding of how organizational responsiveness and adaptability can be upheld in dynamic market conditions.MethodAn inductive approach was employed, utilizing qualitative methods, specifically grounded theory, to develop a comprehensive understanding of organizational agility. Data were collected primarily through interviews, which were analyzed iteratively to identify key themes and concepts. This method facilitated an in-depth exploration of the interactions and influences of various determinants on organizational agility.ConclusionThis study highlights clear communication, dynamic capabilities, and proactive risk management as key determinants of organizational agility. Clear communication fosters transparency and informed decision-making, while proactive risk management and scenario planning are essential for anticipating and responding to potential threats. The findings emphasize the need for organizations to integrate agility considerations into strategic planning and operational frameworks to navigate disruptions and seize opportunities effectively.
