This thesis examined the impact of different micro-animations on user engagement in mobile apps. The research aimed to identify the design elements and characteristics of micro animations that effectively kept users engaged with mobile apps and how they contributed to user satisfaction and experience. The problem space addressed the challenges of diminishing the users' attention span in the mixed media environment, where designers have a limited time to convey a page's value.
The study used a qualitative approach to collect data through semi-structured interviews with five graphic and UX/UI designers. While experts could provide valuable insights through interviews, the study also recognized the importance of empirical data in understanding user engagement. The method used for data analysis was thematic analysis, a qualitative analysis method that allowed for the creation of themes used in the final discussion. The study's results indicated that different micro animations significantly impacted user engagement in mobile apps. The study concluded that by applying best practices and utilizing the insights from this study, designers could create effective and captivating micro animations that enhance user engagement and improve the overall user experience.
