Abstract [en]

This paper investigates how data in a Common Data Environment (CDE) can be used for monitoring the constructionprocess. A CDE centralizes data management and enables real-time updates, collaboration, and communication for effectivemonitoring of the construction phase. Photos, quality control data, communication data, documentation management data, anddaily diary data can be utilized. Integrated BIM and IoT sensors enable real-time data collection, while essential CDE functionsinclude real-time data capture, data governance, integration, and collaborative decision-making However, limitations shouldbe considered, including the focus on a single CDE (Dalux) and a single case study, which may affect the generalizability ofthe findings. The study highlights the importance of CDEs in monitoring construction, emphasizing their role in reducingerrors, improving communication, and enhancing inspection processes. The study aims to identify the existing data and infor-mation in the CDE, uncover knowledge gaps in monitoring construction during the design and production process, and deter-mine any missing data that could enhance the monitoring process. This research studied Dalux as a CDE in a real project, usinga case study and data from literature reviews, interviews, and project analysis. The findings reveal that Dalux, a CDE platform,is commonly used among the companies interviewed. The project used Dalux to access and manage information, includingdrawings, IFC files, and construction documents. Communication-related information and data were also available, facilitatingcollaboration and sharing of information. Overall, this research contributes to developing more effective monitoring strategiesin the construction phase through data and information in a CDE.
