akgrund: Sjuksköterskans roll är att säkerställa korrekt stomivård och dela information om egenomsorg. Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturöversikt är att beskriva patientens upplevelser av att leva med permanent tarmstomi i sitt vardagliga liv. Metod: En litteraturöversikt av kvalitativa artiklar genomfördes med Cinhal och Medline. 14 artiklar analyserades med Fribergs fem steg.Resultat: Två teman och sex subteman identifierades. Det ena temat var att leva med dagliga utmaningar (upplevelsen efter stomioperationen, att uppleva fysiska påfrestningar av stomin och att uppleva svårigheter med sin egenvård). Det andra temat var att anpassa sig till livet med stomi (känslan av utanförskap i det nya sociala livet, att känna sig obekväm med sin kropp och att uppleva utmaningar i sexlivet).Slutsats: Att genomgå en stomioperation ger upphov till både negativa och positiva upplevelser, vilket tydliggör behovet av adekvat stöd. Konceptet KASAM (känsla av sammanhang) kan fungera som en väsentlig faktor för att etablera lämpliga förutsättningar att hantera och bemöta nya utmaningar som uppstår över livstiden. Sjuksköterskor kan dra nytta av patienternas erfarenheter för att proaktivt förebygga problem och tillhandahålla adekvat bemötande inom omvårdnadspraktiken.

One theme was living with daily challenges (the experience after the stoma surgery, experiencing physical stresses of the stoma and experiencing difficulties with self-care). The second theme was adapting to life with a stoma (the feeling of exclusion in the new social life, feeling uncomfortable with one's body and experiencing challenges in sex life).Conclusion: Undergoing a stoma operation rises to both negative and positive experiences, which results in need of adequate support. The concept of KASAM (sense of coherence) can act as an essential factor in establishing suitable conditions to manage and respond to new challenges. Nurses can take advantage of patients' experiences to proactively prevent problems and provide adequate response in nursing practice.
