Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to conduct research into the topics of detection algorithmsand the time of flight (ToF) technology and through those evaluate how the placement of the ToF camera affects a people counting system’s ability to be able to detect and register entries and exits made by people moving within a designated area. Object detection algorithms are used to detect specific objects of interest by searching for predetermined regions of interest (ROI). When registering whether the object or the individual in this instance has passed through the accessway the software utilizes Euclidean distance calculations to differentiate the objects and ensure that they do not get mixed up with each other. As a result of comparing different camera placements within the given space one would evaluate the ability for the system to monitor individuals that pass through its field of view.
