When it comes to designing a spa building there is a significant bond between social sustainability and interior architecture. This report aims to study the importance of social sustainability in interior architecture when designing a spa. 

Designing a spa building is an architectural challenge.  A proposal for a socially sustainable spa building at Hooks Herrgård in Sweden will also be presented. 

Three research methods have been used: case study, interviews, and a survey. A case study analysis of Hooks Herrgårds existing spa building was completed. The aspects analysed in the case study were social sustainability, function, forms, and accessibility. 

Interviews were conducted with three architects that have experience designing a spa building. One of the architects also has experience working with sustainability. 

Lastly, based on the data collected from the case study and the interviews a proposal was created for the extension of Hooks Herrgårds spa building with focus on social sustainability. A survey with 12 questions was handed out to 31 respondents at Hooks Herrgård where they had the possibility to give their opinion on the proposal. 

The results of the case study showed how Hooks Herrgård has incorporated social sustainability in different ways. The results of the interviews gave more insight into what social sustainability is and how it can be incorporated into the interior design of a spa building. The survey showed that there is still work to be done when it comes to the proposal, the needs of the users of the building have not fully been me yet.

När man designar en spabyggnad finns det ett betydande band mellan social hållbarhet och interiörarkitektur. Denna rapport syftar till att studera betydelsen av social hållbarhet i interiörarkitektur vid design av en spabyggnad.

Metoden som användes i rapporten är: fallstudie, intervjuer och en enkät. En fallstudie av Hooks Herrgårds befintliga spabyggnad gjordes. De aspekterna som analyserades i fallstudien var social hållbarhet, funktion, former och tillgänglighet. Intervjuer genomfördes med tre arkitekter som har erfarenhet av att designa en spabyggnad. En av arkitekterna hade även erfarenhet av att jobba med hållbarhetsfrågor. 

Slutligen, baserat på data som samlats in från fallstudien och intervjuerna skapades ett förslag till utbyggnad av Hooks Herrgårds spa-byggnad med fokus på social hållbarhet. En enkät med 12 frågor delades ut till 31 respondenter på Hooks Herrgård där de hade möjlighet att ge sin syn på förslaget.

Resultaten av fallstudien visade hur Hooks Herrgård har införlivat social hållbarhet på olika sätt. Resultaten av intervjuerna gav mer insikt i vad social hållbarhet är och hur det kan införlivas i inredningen av en spabyggnad. Undersökningen visade att det fortfarande återstår arbete när det kommer till förslaget, behoven hos byggnadens brukare har inte fullt ut varit jag än.

Sammantaget har syftet med rapporten uppfyllts och frågeställningarna har besvarats.
