Evaluation and comparison between BuildingSMART, standards in the area of BIM and Nationella Riktlinjer (English)
Abstract [en]
The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction, Owner, and Operator (AECOO) industry is growing, leading to an increase of complex systems creating a need for improvement concerning the efficiency of interoperability within digital information management. Missing information still appears in the information exchange due to different data sources and formats, different terminologies, software applications, and misclassification of data. Organizations and companies have developed technologies, standards in the area of BIM, and strategies to address the issues and improve the efficiency for interoperability within information management. This paper aims to investigate the challenges and barriers within interoperability, evaluate and compare BuildingSMART technologies, standards in the area of BIM, and Nationella Riktlinjer to find the current relations and future development of the three systems. Data was collected through document analysis and semi-structured interviews in a qualitative approach. The results agreed on that there is more development needed since the industry is still facing challenges and barriers regarding the interoperability. This paper ends with discussing the challenges within interoperability, current relation, possible future combinations, and development that could enable the improvement of efficiency, and further research.
