Bakgrund: Vid fem års ålder genomförs ett avslutande hälsobesök i barnhälsovården enligt det nationella barnhälsovårdsprogrammet. Barnkonventionen och Patientlagen framhåller att hälsobesök ska genomföras i dialog med barnen. Forskning visar att barn ser sig själva som individer med förmåga att ta emot information för att delta i situationer som berör dem i hälso- och sjukvården. Inför ett hälsobesök är det av vikt att barnen får information för att vara förberedda. Det är även betydelsefullt att se deras kompetens och skapa förutsättningar för dem att förstå vad besöket ska handla om.

 Syfte: Att beskriva 5-åringars erfarenheter av hälsobesök på barnhälsovården. 

Metod: Studien gjordes med kvalitativ design och induktiv ansats. Deltagande observationer har genomförts med 17 barn och efterföljande intervjuer gjordes i direkt anslutning till hälsobesöket. Observationerna och intervjuerna analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

Resultat: Tre generiska kategorier framträdde; Behov av trygghet vid hälsobesök, Behov att vara en medaktör och Bildstöd skapar förståelse vid hälsobesök. Resultatet visar att förberedelser skapar trygghet i hälsobesök där barnen är engagerade aktörer och de ges utrymme. Barnen förstår de olika momenten under besöket och är med och bestämmer.

 Slutsats: Genom att barnen känner sig förberedda, får utrymme och att de får möjlighet att kommunicera antigen verbalt eller via bildstödet, skapas förutsättningarna för att främja barnens delaktighet i Hälsobesök. 

Background: At the age of five, a final health care visit is carried out in child health care according to the national child health care program. The Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Patients' Act emphasize health visits must be carried out in dialogue with the child. Research shows that children see themselves as individuals with the ability to receive information to participate in situations that affect their health care. Before a health care visit, it is important that the children receive information to be prepared for their visit. It is also important to see their competence and create conditions for them to understand what the visit is about.

Aim: To describe 5-year-olds' experiences of health care visits during child health care.

Method: The study was done with qualitative design and inductive approach. Participatory observations were made with 17 children and subsequent interviews were conducted in direct connection with the health care visit. The observations and interviews were analyzed with a qualitative content analysis.

Results: Three generic categories emerged; Need for security during health care visits, Need to be a  co-actor and pictures helps create understanding during health care visits. The results show that preparations create security in health care visits where the children are a committed participant, and they are given space. The children understand the different steps during the visit and are involved in deciding.

Conclusion: By the children feeling prepared, given space and that they are given the opportunity to communicate either verbally or via pictures, the conditions are created to promote the children's participation during health care visits.
