Abstract [en]

Introduction:  Research on the internationalization of family businesses has shown vigorous development. This paper takes a family business as the research object to illustrate what roles family capital play in the process of the family firms’ internationalization. 

 

Purpose: This thesis aims to better understand and explain how family capital plays a role in the internationalization process of family firms.

 

Methodology: This thesis adopts the research method of a single case study through semi-structured interviews to get the hinder and ease factors of internationalization regarding family capital.

 

Result: In this case study, family capital eases the process of internationalization of Lucky Seven Decoration. Although family capital may hinder the firm’s internationalization, the aspects easing the process play a decisive role. 

 

Contribution: This thesis investigated the role of family capital in the internationalization of family businesses, it provides the hinder and eases factors of human capital, social capital and financial capital of the internationalization process from empirical findings.
