Abstract [en]

Background: Software Testing using agile methodologies is widely accepted because it accepts early testing as features are tested at the same time when they are developed. QA testers play an important role in software development to ensure the quality of the end result. Quality Assurance (QA) is a systematic approach to ensuring the highest level of product and service quality. But they encountered a lot of challenges in their day-to-day job. Now these challenges become more complicated due to this emerging field and it is very relevant to do some research in this field, as there is very less recent research has been done in this topic.

Purpose: This research focuses to dig into deep about different issues faced by the QA testers and the commonly used practices to resolve those problems.

Research Questions:

RQ1. What are the main challenges associated with a QA tester?

RQ1.1. What are the commonly used practices to overcome those challenges?

Method: Here, qualitative method is used as it suits well with this thesis for the analysis of data. The research follows inductive approach and adopts grounded theory as research strategy. Eleven semi-structured interviews have been done and the participants were from three different countries Sweden, Sri Lanka and India.

Conclusion: By doing this research, we understood that QA testers are facing several challenges while developing software using agile methodologies. Most of them need to get proper attention. This study also tried to understand some of the common practices currently used by the QA testers to overcome those challenges. But more research needs to be done in this field to develop more and more advanced and best practices to resolve those issues.
