The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is not only a significant health emergency, it also has substantial impacts on media and communication structures. The WHO labeled current times as the COVID-19 infodemic to raise awareness about the many issues related to the spread of false information. The circulation of false information can contribute to distrust in democratic institutions which is highly problematic for political and social sustainability. This thesis discusses the COVID-19 infodemic by analyzing the case of Germany - which had one of the strongest anti-lockdown movements worldwide.
