Abstract [en]

Background: Today, incorporating QM practices is argued to not only be of importance for SMEs competing in various markets but a crucial aspect to consider when aiming to create a competitive advantage and long-term success. The relation between QM practices and success factors is argued to grant positive outcomes, however, there is an undeniable need to develop specific QM practices tailored to each organisation’s needs.Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to contribute with a more profound understanding of how quality management practices influence the success factors of residential real estate agencies in Sweden. Thus, determine the presence of adequate tools to positively influence organisational performance and efficiency through QM practices. Method: The authors conducted an exploratory study by performing qualitative research on the topic of QM practices and success factors. Initially, the informants were asked to complete pre-interview questions to gain a better understanding of the interviewees’ professional careers and organisational backgrounds. A total of four semi-structured interviews were administered with participants from Company X (anonymous), HusmanHagberg, and Riksmäklaren, to obtain key insights from managers within the residential real estate industry.  Conclusion: The empirical findings presented similar practices amongst the participating organisations, relating to successful QM practices. Amongst the identified practices were strong leadership, customer commitment, and the aim to foster a culture of development and employee empowerment. The authors ultimately found a clear relation between QM practices and success factors and suggest placing a high emphasis on the identified attributes (See Figure 4 & Table 4) to continue and maintain sufficient QM practices.
