This thesis is a scoping review on the topic of the effects of Dolphin Assisted Therapy on fine or gross motor skills and social skills or behavior of children with disabilities. The first part offers background information on Animal Assisted Therapy and Dolphin Assisted Therapy, linking the information common to occupational therapy, focusing on occupational performance and participation. Results from relevant studies are divided into the categories of fine or gross motor skills and social skills or behaviors. Each study used a different therapy approach and therefore it is not possible to make a clear statement on the effects of Dolphin Assisted Therapy. Further research should focus on a clear definition first to be able to then conduct more research and provide comparable results.
