This degree project has been carried at the Technical University, Jönköping in collaboration with Science Park and the Carlobolaget.

In this project we have focused on I: handles and II: wheels, to find new possible solutions. One challenge is how to get wheels to give themselves less noise but still be sustainable and stable. It will also take time to get a unique on a telescopic handle that differs from existing products on market.

The Travel industry is constantly growing market, where travel and transportation are increasing every day. The suitcase has been around for several years but has not progressed in the development. Current products do not differ and the vision was to develop the product into something innovative. The person the bag is focused on is a ’’ big city person ’’ with a very active life.

The study chosen for the project is a conceptual study and the method of the product development process has been used to produce a result. The product development process is a process used to develop and improve already existing products. When companies need to improve a product, they need to plan the project strategically in order to be able to go through the different steps that are included in the process with understanding.

The project began with a market analysis, interviews and discussions with several people. Under market analysis, a survey was made to find out what the market wants and what is considered to be problematic when a suitcase comes to use. From the competitor analysis that was done, we got an overview of ’’market gaps’’ . Furthermore, a concept development has been carried out in the project where three concepts were generated.

With a commonly decision we came up with the idea three-in-one concept. The idea is based on a chassis where different modules can be assemble to the frame to change the bag's function, which will make it adaptable for all kinds of situations and users.

The final concept became a trolley with two large wheels and a third ’’circular’’ wheel. The trolley consist of the wheels and the telescopic handle resulted in a unique and attractive design.

Detta examensarbete har genomförts på Tekniska Högskolan, Jönköping i samarbete med Science Park och Carlobolaget. Arbetet syftar till att utveckla ett koncept för hjul och teleskophandtag till en resväska.

Punkter som fokuseras på i detta examensarbete är, I: handtag och II: hjul, för att hitta nya möjliga lösningar. En utmaning är hur hjul ska ge ifrån sig mindre buller men fortfarande vara hållbara och stabila. Det kommer även läggas ner tid på att få en unik design på ett teleskophandtag som skiljer sig från befintliga produkter på marknaden.

Resebranschen är en konstant växande marknad, där resande och transportmedel ökar varje dag. Resväskan har existerat i flera år men har inte kommit vidare i utvecklingen. Nuvarande produkter skiljer sig inte åt och visionen var att utveckla produkten till något nyskapande. Persona som väskan ska vara inriktad mot är en storstadsmänniska med ett aktivt liv.

Studien som valdes för projektet är en konceptuell studie och metoden produktutvecklingsprocessen har används för att få fram ett resultat. Produktutvecklingsprocessen är en process som används för att utveckla och förbättra redan befintliga produkter. När företag ska förbättra en produkt behöver de planera projektet strategiskt för att kunna gå igenom de olika stegen som ingår i processen med förståelse.

Projektet inleddes med en marknadsanalys, intervjuer och diskussioner med flertal personer. Under marknadsanalysen gjordes en enkät för att ta reda på vad marknaden vill ha och vad som anses vara problematiskt när en resväska kommer till användning. Utifrån konkurrensanalysen som gjordes fick vi en överblick över markandsluckor. Vidare i projektet har en konceptutveckling genomförts där tre koncept genererades.

Med ett gemensamt beslut kom de fram till idéen tre-i-ett-koncept. Idén grundar sig på ett chassi där olika moduler kan monteras mot ramen för att förändra väskans funktion, vilket bidrar till att den är anpassningsbar för alla sorters situationer och användare.

Det slutgiltiga konceptet blev en trolley med två stora hjul och ett tredje roterande hjul. Trolleyn som bestod av hjulen och teleskophandtaget resulterade till en unik och tilltalande design.
