Utveckling av ett ramverk för en parameterstyrd plattform och ökad produktionseffektivitet - En fallstudie av industriellt husbyggande (Swedish)
Abstract [en]
Aim– The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of parametric design and platforms in the production efficiency of industrialized house building using a parameterized platform approach.
Method– This study adopted a combination of a literature review and a qualitative approach using a case study in an industrialized house building company. Interviews were the main sources of information in the case study. A tender planner, a structural engineer, a technical manager and a team leader in a production department were interviewed in this study to represent different departments at the studied company; which enabled an in-depth knowledge about the company’s development in its platforms and parametric design adaptation.
Results– This study provided evidence that parametric design and platforms need to be incorporated together to enhance production efficiency in an industrialized house building. A process parameter platform was thus suggested as a parameterized platform that supports the technical platform of the studied company in process, information and knowledge handling. A six steps approach was proposed as a guideline for a gradual implementation of the suggested platform. The integration of the suggested platform with the current platform at the studied company can improve specific production objectives: reducing production cost, increasing production speed and increasing the production capacity.
Practical implications– This study gives an orientation on how to gradually implement a process parameter platform to achieve production efficiency, by integrating platforms with parametric design. This gives valuable inputs and a starting point to practitioners with interest in the field.
Originality/value– This article proposes a framework for gradually implementing a process parameter platform based on studies of literature and a case study. This provides an insight of the field’s emergence and unique information about the studied company’s development with platforms and parametric design.
