Rehabilitation is not sufficiently achieved in home care in Finland. An important component of rehabilitation is interprofessional teamwork. Working together can be difficult if there is no common understanding of rehabilitation and collaboration. The purpose of this study is to describe home care nurses’ viewpoints about rehabilitation and interdisciplinary team work, and to reflect the findings from an occupational therapy perspective. The study was conducted in the home care services of Helsinki, Finland. Data was collected in the spring of 2017. A qualitative, descriptive study design was used as a methodological approach. Non-probability sampling was used in selection of the interviewees. Ten home care nurses were interviewed for the study. Giorgi's phenomenological meaning condensation was adapted in the analysing process. The results show that home care nurses, clients and clients’ relatives need more knowledge about rehabilitation. Client-centredness seems to sometimes be neglected in service and rehabilitation planning in home care. A higher quality in interprofessional collaboration could help in building knowledge about rehabilitation and clientcentredness in home care. This could be promoted by increasing collaboration between nurses and occupational therapists. Adopting a different focus in monitoring the effectiveness of home care services is suggested to ensure quality of services. Implications of the study findings for practice are: (a) Continued attention must be paid for education of nursing staff and clients about rehabilitation, (b) time and venue for interprofessional teamwork need to be provided, (c) qualitative measures need to be adopted to ensure quality of services in home care and to ascertain that the services meet clients’ needs, (d) client-centred practice must be developed to promote clients’ occupational justice in home care. Occupational therapists can help in this development work.
