Preventative work in collaboration at family centers : - counselor´s perspective (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study is to examine how social workers at Swedish family centers, Familjecentraler, works with preventive work for parents with children 0-6 years. We have chosen to examine the preventive work, both based on the work of the social workers in the family center, but also in collaboration with the other professions working there. All family centers had access to counselor (social worker), midwife, child nurse and preschool teacher. The material was collected by visiting six family centers and interviews with a total of eight social workers. The material has been transcribed and analyzed based on a thematic analysis. And the result was analyzed and discussed based on structural organizational theory, which is the chosen theoretical approach for this study. The study shows that social workers work with preventive work in similar ways by offering general family support. Social workers also work similarly with individual-oriented efforts for the families of children. Collaboration with other professions at the family center is described as positive although there are some difficulties since the professions work differently from each other. The organization is also build in a way that they have different employers and this complicates the interaction
