Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

In this study ten qualitative interviews were conducted with social workers within three different units in the same Swedish municipality. The aim was to find the factors that encourage these employees to stay at the same workplace. Based on the interviews four themes were found; good relations to colleagues, the charitable leader, freedom with responsibility and a positive attitude. Good relationships to colleagues implies practical and emotional support as well as a positive climate and the charitable leader is comprised of a manager who is both competent and caring. Freedom with responsibility is based on the fact that the work is varying, free and compatible with one’s personal life and finally the positive attitude regards to how they view benefits in their work situation and disadvantages of other work situations. The result has been analyzed using previous research and Herzberg theory.
