Övergång till en projektbaserad organisation: En förändringsresa hos IT-företaget Qsys Sverige AB2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

School is a place where children spend a lot of their time and therefore school also plays an important role in providing children equal terms in their possibilities of participating, learn and develop. Studies shows that children with disabilities often feels that they are not given the same possibilities to participate at equal terms. The aim of this study is to investigate how occupational therapist feel that their competence can be used in schools. The study is a qualitative study, using a semi-structured interview guide where six occupational therapists working in schools were asked to describe how they feel that their knowledge and their competence were used in school. The data was then analysed using qualitative content analysis where three categories was found: The competence of occupational therapist in school enhances the possibilities for participation, The competence of occupational therapist contributes to a holistic approach of the student and Team-work in school contributes to participation and an holistic approach.  The result showed that occupational therapist felt that using their competence in school enhanced the possibilities to participate at equal terms since they saw the students from a holistic and client-centered approach. Also team-work was important since it contributed to a holistic approach and enhanced participation.

Occupation as means and ends in early childhood intervention – A scoping review2019Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Background: Occupational therapy (OT) plays an important role in providing early childhood interventions for children with developmental delay. While paediatric OT has long been guided by developmental principles, occupation-centred interventions have been promoted during the last decades, but no unifying definition exists about the core features. Aims/Objectives: The aim of this paper is to (a) identify and describe how occupation-based and occupation-focused interventions are demonstrated in paediatric occupational therapy for infants and young children with developmental delay, (b) identify which outcomes these interventions address and (c) analyse which outcome measures are used. Material and Methods: Eight databases and 15 OT journals were searched. Included studies were peer-reviewed primary sources published in English since 1999, selected based on the terminology proposed by Fisher (2013). Nineteen papers met inclusion criteria. Results: Eight occupation-based, two occupation-focused and nine occupation-based and occupation-focused interventions were identified. Outcomes related mainly to occupational and play skill acquisition as well as mastery of co-occupations. A limited number of occupation-focused outcome measures was implemented. Conclusions: Several occupation-centred interventions have been researched. Gaps in knowledge exist regarding measures taking into account (co-)occupational performance and young children’s perspective. Significance: OTs might want to expand their scope of practice to include all occupational domains and increase parent-delivered interventions in natural environments. Measures used should be relevant to occupational performance and take into account the parent’s and children’s view. Use of uniform terminology can aid identification of evidence and clear placement of OT among other professionals.

Year)), 40 credits / 60 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Background: There is a limited consensus regarding a universal definition of the concept independent among occupational therapists, despite the daily use of the concept. The research shows two descriptions of disabilities (medical model description based on physical capacity and social model description that emphasizes the possibility of choice, control and self-determination) which in turn affects the view of the concept of independence. No previous research has been found that describes how persons with mild intellectual disability perceive the concept and their experiences of being independent and not independent / dependent. An important knowledge to be able to work client-centered.

Aim: The aim is to describe how persons with mild intellectual disability perceive the meaning of independent and what experiences they have of being independent versus not independent/dependent.

Material and methods: The participants in the study were strategically selected based on an appropriate selection. Individual semi-structured interviews were performed with ten persons with intellectual disabilities (five women, five men, aged 22-65), by Skype. The interviews were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.

Results: Persons with mild intellectual disability believe that independent means; to handle things by yourself, that one can be independent despite recieving help, to make one’s own life decisions and to help others - be competent. Experiences of being independent is a qualification for feeling freedom. It depends on factors like the person's internal resources and an enabling environment. Not being independent, feeling dependent is perceived when you cannot cope, master things/situations and are not being listened to. Reduced health also entiles  experiencing dependence.

Conclusions: To be independent, in the sense of making one’s own life decisions, is central for the experience of feeling independent. The more one’s self-determination is limited, the less one experiences being independent and vice versa. Independent despite help, presupposes a partnership (interdependence) between the person and the helper. When you help others - you are competent and independent.

Significance: Occupational therapists should be alerted to identifying and supporting activities where persons with mild intellectual disabilities are given the opportunity to help others and mean something to someone else.

    Abstract [en]

Purpose: A big part of the greenhouse gases from Sweden comes from the construction and real estate sector. Since the life cycle perspective is a high currant subject it is interesting to implement LCA to the building industry and perform such an analysis on the insulation materials that are traditionally used in the building industry. To make the result of the LCA applicable for companies in the industry it is also of interest to know how the LCC differs between the compared insulation materials. For the result to be easy to identify it is necessary to make a compilation of the cost in contrast to the carbon dioxide emissions.

The goal of this study is to contribute with knowledge about the environmental impact from a life cycle perspective of different insulation materials. As well to see how the cost might change between different insulation materials with more or less carbon dioxide emissions, where a presumption is that the U-value is the same for the compared materials.

Method: The scientific methods for the study have been literature study, case study and document analysis. As a complement, calculations, life cycle assessments and life cycle cost analysis have been made.

Findings: Loose fill insulation of cellulose reduces the carbon dioxide emissions for insulation in the attic with 94,6 percent to a cost increase of 30 percent compared to stone wool. A board of cellulose reduces the carbon dioxide emissions for insulation in the external wall with 94,4 percent to a cost increase of 7 percent compared to stone wool. A foundation with foamglas reduces the carbon dioxide emissions with 65,1 percent to a cost increase of 55,2 percent compared to a foundation of EPS and concrete.

    Implications:

    • Insulation of cellulose have much lower carbon dioxide emissions than stone wool.

    • Life cycle cost for cellulose are a bit higher than for stone wool.

    • From this study the recommendation is to prioritize the environment above the cost and therefor use cellulose as insulation in buildings.

    • Foamglas is a more sustainable alternative to EPS and concrete for foundations.

    • Foamglas have a higher life cycle cost than EPS and concrete for foundations.

    • From this study the recommendation is to prioritize the environment above the cost and therefore consider to use foamglas for foundations.

Limitations: The study has not included transportations of the materials. The life cycle assessments are made on 1 m2 of material with a fixed thickness. Only two insulation materials in each building part have been analyzed and no regards have been taken to the materials moist, sound, and fire attribute. The study is quantitative.

BIMS PÅVERKAN PÅ TIDIGARE ARBETSMETODER2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Purpose: Digitalization has progressed with big steps in the recent decades. This has been reflected in the construction industry where “Building Information Modeling” has been implemented. The implementation has entailed some complications for designers, existing established working methods are opposed to new software and digital instruments. There are also differences in skills between the designers who have worked long in the industry and those who are newly graduates. Those who have a long working experience do not have as high digital competence as the newly graduated but they have a much broader practical knowledge. The purpose of the study is to analyze how the implementation of BIM has affected constructors about their professional/technical competence and to develop measures to increase the digital competence so that constructors can fully utilize their professional competence.

Method: The method used in this study is interviews. The study will be carried out through qualitative methods where the interviews are semi-structured. Several interviews have been conducted at two consulting offices in Uddevalla and Trollhättan. The interviewees are constructors with experience of construction before BIM and constructors with experience of BIM from their education.

Findings: The study shows what factors that have contributed to difficulties in the working method BIM. Digitalization in general has affected the workflow that constructors carry out because they replace old habits. The construction industry is constantly changing, and older constructors can adapt to the system by training. This creates difficulties, which means that they require help from employees with a better digital competence. A higher digital competence is necessary to keep up with the incubation. Therefore, through good leadership, you should help older constructors, this is done by motivating them to learn how to use software to design, communicate and organize.

Implications: There is a lack of digital competence in several constructors without education of BIM. There are also complications between constructors due to differences in skills and different perspectives on their problem solving. The study proposes that a BIM-coordinator is needed to steer the implementation of BIM in the right direction in a company and that a broader investigation must be carried out.

Limitations: The report’s survey method was only limited to one company in addition to two offices, which meant that the perspective in the study was limited. The study focuses more on identifying the problem and finding a solution to the problem, it does not focus on how the measures should be carried out and what consequences this would have on a company.

    Abstract [en]

Purpose: Material wastage is a widespread problem in the building sector that affects both the economic and environmental aspects negative. Further research within industrial small house manufacturing is required to develop an information system and investigate the amount of discarded material. Several small house companies use external building contractors which makes it difficult to reduce the amount of waste because the contractors are not economically affected by the amount of material left over. In the case studied there are no guidelines on how the amount of material waste should be fed back and how the small house manufacture should use that kind of experience feedback. There has to be an improved communication between the parties in order to systematically document where the material waste occur and what it depends on.The aim of the essay is to give concrete suggestions on how the experience feedback can be formed between small house companies and building contractors, and how the small house company can adjust their operation method in order to contribute to a reduced amount of material waste.

Method: The paper is a qualitative study with litterateur, observation and interview study as applied examinations methods. The observation investigated the company’s working methods. In the literature study, scientific articles within waste, knowledge management and Building Information Modelling (BIM), where studied. These theories where later compared with the interviews, which were designed with a low degree of structuring and higher degree of standardization.

Findings: The study presents that poor quality of the material is the most common experienced sources of material waste. Concrete suggestions on how the experience feedback between small house manufacturer and building contractors can be formed is presented, where photo documentation and weighing of the material are two of the alternatives. That information can in a later stage be used to optimize the company’s additional percentage on the material used to prevent the material from running out of the construction site.

Implications: The paper results there is a developed system for how deviations for missing material is managed and that there also is a need to introduce it for residual material. Inadequate quality of the material is identified as the largest source of material waste, even calculation errors from quantity take-off are common because it is carried out manually. The additional percentage on material orders is not based on documentation and has potential to be optimized. One way to reduce the amount of material waste is to introduce a wider use of BIM in order to make clash control and quantity take-off.

Limitations: The thesis is a case study, but the results can be applied in other small house companies with a similar working procedure. The study is delimited from organizational structures with internal builders, which means that the generalization of the results is decreased. The work is also limited from which incentives that is required to motivate the building contractors to use the suggested methods to return the information.

Keywords: Waste, Construction, Knowledge Management, Quantity take-off and BIM.

Hur tätt är rätt?: En studie om samexistens mellan dagsljus och förtätning2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Purpose: As urbanization increases, the need for household grows significantly. As a solution, dense urban environment has become a social trend for promoting an ecologically and socially sustainable society and a strategy for the housing shortage. As densification reduces segregation and increases security in residential areas, it entails difficulties and challenges in housing planning. Daylight constitutes a large part of it. Meanwhile, research has shown that daylight access has positive effects on humans’ physical and mental health. However, a large part of Swedish households does not meet the required daylight levels. It is argued that municipalities do not want to address the problem because the lack of knowledge and engagement. At present, the connection between density and daylight is not regulated in the detail planning which increases the importance of a distinct definition of daylight requirements. In order to allow city growth, it is important to address the problem and raise awareness among the involved actors. It is important in order to enable density among homes without these endangering each other's daylight access. The purpose with this study is to investigate how well daylight and densification can coexist in dense residential areas.

Method: The study uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. Data is collected through literature studies, interviews and a case study.

Findings: Densification has a considerable effect on the daylight access, specifically on the ground floor dwellings. Different typologies contribute to varied light conditions and should be planned at an early stage. Approach to daylight planning differ between the developer, architect and municipality where the opinions of each actor are characterized by the position. In order to not jeopardize the daylight access in dense neighborhood areas, great emphasis should be placed on obstruction angle and sill height of the windows with an obstruction angle no more than 50°.

Implications: It is important that all the actors involved share an equal approach to daylight planning. Daylight planning is possible in the detailed planning and should be done to avoid later problems. If the coexistence of daylight and densification is to be seen, daylight requirements should be lowered or demanded at the residential level. If this is not possible, a density limit should be introduced so that densification can take place correctly without jeopardizing the daylight.

Limitations: The result of the study is applicable to the specific case of the study, however, it can be implemented in a neighborhood area with similar conditions and thus be generalized.

The Design Platform Approach –Enabling platform-based development in the engineer-to-order industry2019Doctoral thesis, comprehensive summary (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

Manufacturing companies are continuously faced with requirements regarding technology novelty, shorter time to market, a higher level of functionality, and lower prices on their products. This is especially the case for companies developing and manufacturing highly customized products, also known as engineer-to-order (ETO) companies. The traditional view of the product lifecycle introduces the customer only at the sale and distribution phase, which is often concerned with identifying and transferring customer needs into fixed specifications that guide the development of end-consumer products. In the ETO industry, however, the customer is involved already at the scoping and quotation stage, and a significant amount of engineering needs to be performed for every customer order. Thus, ETO companies cannot work according to the traditional model described above since specific requirements are set directly by the customer, or a detailed requirements specification is missing and must be developed in cooperation with the customer. It is not uncommon that products are developed in joint ventures with the customer and run for several years, during which requirements change.

Product platform approaches have been generally accepted in the industry to serve a wide product variety while maintaining business efficiency. However, how to apply a product platform approach in ETO companies that face the reality described above is a challenge. Product platform approaches tend to require focused development of the platform, which, in turn, requires some knowledge about the future variants to be derived from the platform. The research presented in this thesis investigates the state of art and practice in the industry regarding the challenges, needs, and current use of product platforms. To respond to the identified need, a product platform approach is proposed that expands the scope of what a product platform has traditionally contained. The purpose of this proposal is to aid the development of highly customized products when physical modules or component scalability do not suffice. The resulting approach, the Design Platform Approach (DPA), provides a coherent model and methodology for heterogeneous engineering assets to be used in product development, supporting the activity of designing and existing solutions. The approach is based on identifying and modelling generic product and process items, which are the generic building blocks of the product, its structure, and the process of designing them. The generic product and process items are associated with the generic assets governing their design. By describing engineering assets that are the outcome of technology and product development, such as finished designs, design guidelines, constraints etc., in a standardized format, the DPA successively evolves.

This thesis outlines the DPA in detail and presents cases of applications that have focused on different aspects of the approach. Tools to support the DPA are presented and evaluated in different kinds of industries along with the specific methods used and literature summarization.

Reconfigurability Assessment Model: Assessment of a Manufacturing System's Current State2019Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Today’s global market and growing competition set an increasing strain to manufacturing companies. Shorter product lifecycles automatically lead to shorter production ramp up periods and, therefore, set a higher strain on the manufacturing systems. The concept of reconfigurable manufacturing systems (RMS) was developed in the early 1990s and has now gained more interest than ever. An RMS is designed to quickly respond to changes in market demand, by adapting its functionality as well as its capacity to the current market requirements. In order to achieve this, an RMS is characterised by six core characteristics: modularity, integrability, diagnosability, convertibility, scalability and customisation. By complying with these characteristics, the manufacturing system can meet the required responsiveness to functionality and capacity changes. Academia has been focusing on the development and design of new RMSs, however, there is a lack in research on converting existing manufacturing systems towards reconfigurability. Additionally, few models assessing a manufacturing system’s current state in terms of reconfigurability are available in literature. The existing reconfigurability assessment models were proven to be rather theoretical and difficult to use by practitioners in industry. Therefore, the need for a reconfigurability assessment model applicable in industry arose. This study focuses on the analysis of enablers of a reconfigurability manufacturing systems as well as on assessing the reconfigurability of an existing manufacturing system in an industrial setting. For this purpose, a detailed reconfigurability assessment model has been developed, based on literature studies and a case study at a case company. A focus of the development of the model has been set on usability in industry. The outcome was an assessment model developed in Microsoft Excel that gives an overview on the reconfigurability of each characteristic as well as the manufacturing system’s overall reconfigurability. The model was subsequently tested and verified at the case company. The final reconfigurability assessment model is presented and explained at the end of this study. This study shows, that through the use of theory about RMS and input from industry it was possible to develop a current state assessment model regarding reconfigurability. To make the model generalisable and adaptable to different industrial settings, further testing in different manufacturing fields and research within RMS is required.

Kommunala aktörers synsätt på begreppet integration2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

User-centered design of an attachable battery pack for arborists2019Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Globe Group, a company under the brand Greenworks Tools, is one of the industry leaders in battery-powered outdoor equipment, developing tools that deliver the performance of a gasoline-powered tool without the hassle and emissions associated with it. Gasoline-powered tools are still prevalent in the field of arboriculture where arborists work daily with chainsaws while performing tree felling and pruning.

Now a new type of chainsaw is in development by Globe Group which is characterized by its lightweight and large battery capacity, which brings extraordinary battery life. This feature is possible by redesigning the chainsaw to support an external battery, which is housed in a separate battery pack instead of placing the battery directly inside the tool. The aim of the project is to adapt and design the battery pack for arborists by using a user-centered design approach with focus on ergonomics. This is done by having a close cooperation with the arborists during the whole project, from pre-study to final concept evaluation, to explore and fulfill the needs of the user. By using a wide range of research and design methods, a final concept is developed to reach the needs of the user and company.

    Abstract [en]

Companies are trying to decrease product expenses while customizing product according to customers requirements. So to satisfy the customers’ requirements, companies must adapt their business to mass customisation.  Mass customization final product goes through all flexible company production technology process, which can lead to being expensive and time-consuming and because of this, a product configuration system is developed to reduce product cost and reduce time. The primary focus of this thesis is to develop a KBE prototype using constraint-based techniques of product configurations. For developing KBE implementation of  UML/OCL, XML, Backtracking search is used. Then prototype expert configurator is developed using OCL constraints.

Socialarbetares arbete med utövare av våld i nära relationer: En fenomenografisk studie2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

In this phenomenographic study of social workers’ experiences regarding working with perpetrators of intimate partner violence (IPV), three focus areas were covered; causes of the use of violence in IPV relationships, effective strategies in the work with perpetrators of IPV, and the perpetrators’ justification of their use of violence in their intimate partner relationships. The experiences regarding causes of use of violence in intimate partner relationships comprised own experiences of abuse from IPV, mental health causes, toxic masculinity, and childhood negligence. These described causes were connected to a structural perspective, a structural societal perspective, a social psychologic perspective, and an individual psychologic perspective. The experiences regarding effective strategies in the work with perpetrators of IPV comprised the establishment of a good work alliance with the perpetrator, to acknowledge the perpetrator’s person, and to promote the perpetrator’s full undertaking of the responsibility for the violence. Lastly, the experiences regarding the perpetrators’ justification of their use of violence in their intimate partner relationships comprised shifting of the responsibility for the violence, impuissance, and an undertaking of the responsibility for the violence. The justification of the violence was connected to how the perpetrators did not want to identify themselves as perpetrators of IPV.

Återhämtningskapital och genus: en litteraturstudie av kvinnors och mäns återhämtning i samband med alkoholmissbruk2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

Stakeholder perspectives on ownership and gender equality:: -A case study on development collaboration projects at Bussi Island, Uganda2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The tool for including local actors in development collaboration projects is called ownership and it is defined in the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. However, researchers have detected flaws with the definition and implementation of ownership. Some also argue that gender equality and the empowerment of women are neglected aspects in the Paris Declaration and that they are not emphasised enough in the aid effectiveness dialogue.

The objective of this study is to examine the perspectives and experiences of stakeholders about the meaning and implementation of ownership on different operating levels through a gendered lens. Additionally, in order to be able to investigate how these matters are interpreted and implemented in practice and affecting beneficiaries, two development collaboration projects on Bussi island, Uganda, were selected for this case study.

The main objective was to gain a deeper understanding of the perspectives of the informants, and not to generalize. That is the reason why this is a qualitative case study where the information is based on words and not on numbers. Semi-structured interviews were used for the data collection. Informants form Erikshjälpen, a local organization called RODA and beneficiaries living on Bussi Island were interviewed as representatives for the different operating levels.

The conclusion is that the critique provided by previous research can in some aspects be applied to the case of this study. There are no specific strategies on ownership or gender equal ownership by either Erikshjälpen or RODA. There are conflicting perspectives on what the term “ownership” actually means by all informants from the different operating levels. There are also coherent perspectives regarding the importance of ownership and gender equality on all levels, and participation is a key word used by all the informants. However, since a strategy is missing, there is no tool for examining if participation actually can be used to claim that successful ownership and gender equal ownership has been implemented. If a strategy were to be created, it should include a definition of ownership, a plan for gender equal ownership, and agreed upon indicators for measuring both phenomena.

    Abstract [sv]

Introduktion.

    Abstract [en]

The aim of this study is to examine experiences and perceptions of parent-teacher conferences from a parental point of view. The questions of the study are: What expectations do parents have on parent-teacher conferences? and How do parents describe parent-teacher conferences? The theoretical framework is a socio-cultural perspective. The data has been collected through qualitative interviews with fourteen parents. The material has been analyzed on the basis of the qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach.  In our analysis of parents' expectations of parent-teacher conferences, two themes appeared: Expectations on content and Expectations on participants. Parents' descriptions of parent-teacher conferences resulted in five themes: Information opportunity, Varied types of conferences, Different roles, Experiences in connection with parent-teacher conferences and Parent-teacher conferences as a means of school contact. The result of the study shows that all parents expect to have an overall picture of their child´s development academically and socially. Many parents experience a lack of information in the social area and about development plans and future goals The expectations increase with the child's age and level of knowledge, while it seems more difficult to get a clear picture with increasing age of the child. The parents perceive the teacher's role as the most active and their own role as supportive but at the same time the most passive. The student's role is the one that varies the most depending on if the parent-teacher conference is student-led or not. According to the parents it is very important that all parties get the opportunity to participate in the conversation regardless the type of conference. The majority of the respondents describe a positive feeling before and during a conference, while there are greater variations in the experiences afterwards. Those who consider the school contact insufficient want more information about social aspects. Parents with children who have a problematic school situation have a closer contact with the school.

    Abstract [en]

This study was conducted to research on history books in upper secondary school and how they dealt with the image of women in the material, especially with the Swedish history writing from 1600 to 1800 century. Therefore seven different books were selected in this study, ranging from the periods 1987 to 2016. The methods to research these books lies under text analysis, which means that this is fokusing on what the writer/authors of the books have been handling the image of women and the way they have been trying to implement it in the history books in school. To further aid this study and the view women in history books, I have used the curriculum that is mandated from the school minister on the view of what should be taught in school: Lgy 70, Lpf 94 and Lgy 11. I have used these in conjunction with how the history books and the writers/ author have been representing the image of women in the different history books. The result shows that the image of women have been changed from 1987 to 2016 and have gone from a descriptive description of women to a more of a mix between adjective and descriptive description. Furthermore have the latter history books been focusing more on different women in the Swedish nobility then on women in whole. One interesting point that came up in this study, was that the image of Queen Christina had different interpretation. This depended on which current curriculum was in power and on the writers/ authors current objective was in respective history book. However despite having a more of an adjective description on the image of women, has the content about women not really changed or increased. Furthermore has some parts of the image of women even decreased in favor to other. However even though the quantity has not change regarding the image of women, this study found out that the quality in the description of the image of women has changed and thus can conclude that there has been a change in how the image of women have been portrayed.

    Abstract [en]

Nurses' practical knowledge is crucial for safe care. Within the nursing program skills are checked through clinical examinations. Based on identified deficiencies in terms of legal validity and working environment related to clinical examinations improvement work was initiated.

The purpose of the improvement work was to improve the process of clinical training within the nursing program by developing the clinical examination.

A study of the improvement work was conducted with the purpose of:

    • Exploring teachers shared interpretations with clinical examinations as an educational activity.
    • Analysing and developing initial program theory based on interview data.

Improvement work was designed according to the model for improvement, improvement ramp, and a program theory approach. The study includes qualitative interviews with content analysis based on an interactive and abductive approach.

The improvement work led to improved consensus between teachers and a better work environment. A reduction in variation between teachers’ assessments of clinical examinations was reached. The program theory was revised based on interview data.

Reduced variation shows increased legal validity. Revised program theory has increased the possibility of learning from the improvement work both locally and in general.

The work has developed the nursing education and its contribution to good and safe healthcare.

    Abstract [en]

Purpose – The purpose of this study has been to analyse how activities on loading spaces can be standardized and more effective. The following two questions have been chosen to answer the purpose of the study.

    1. Which activities are currently being performed in a disadvantageous manner on loading spaces?

    2. Which improvements can be made to enable optimization on loading spaces?

Method – A pilot study was conducted at a fall company to identify the purpose to the study and its research questions. The case study was conducted in the form of a onecase design since case study was conducted at only one company. The case study consisted of observations, interviews and document studies. In order to design a theoretical framework as a theoretical basis of the study, a literature review was made. The literature review gave a background to theories in Lean, 5S, Standardized work, Muscle memory, ABC analysis, Poka-Yoke, Warehouse layout and Process mapping.

Findings – The study presents several activities that are performed in a disadvantageous way. Examples of these activities are variation in placement of sorting codes, inbound goods or consumables on the loading space and plural wastes connected to a scanning process. An ABC analysis of sorting codes, implementation of 5S and standardized work together with has led to a finding who shows the correlation between the abovementioned methods and how it leads to a standardized and effective work on the loading space.

Implications – Based on an existing problem, the study has been based on previously known theories and methods in the areas of inventory and logistics. The study do not present any new theory in these areas but shows the correlations between different methods to standardize and make loading spaces more effective. The correlation between the methods has led to a standardized work process and guideline for how a loading space can be designed which is a relatively unexplored area.

Limitations – The study was conducted at a fall company based on their problems at the loading space. A benchmarking within a similar business could increase the understanding of the problems at loading spaces and thus increase generalization further. In the document study have some statistics concerning sorting codes been unspecified, which may have affected the ABC classification. Further does the study only cover activities on the loading space. Activities earlier in the flow have not been taken into consideration which could lead to more solutions to the purpose of the study.

Keywords – Loading space, 5S, Standardized work, ABC classification, Wastes, Sorting code, Pallets, Visual aids, Scanning

    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this essay has been to study how sham transactions are classified in a civil law and tax law perspective and if the classification is based on a civil or economic basis.

A sham transaction occurs when a contract is assigned a different legal label than its actual content is corresponding to. This can be done deliberately (to circumvent mandatory legislation) or unconsciously. The reason for the unconscious are that, some civil law concepts meaning may vary both in civil- and tax law context, that different areas of law overlap each other, and also because legislative is missing. The court may conduct a reclassification of such acts, but unlike to civil law the sham transaction must be of obvious character in tax law. Before a reclassification is taken the court must undertake a classification for which adequate interpretation data such as the contract, intent of the parties as well as the economic aspect are taken into account. Thereafter a legal classification of these data is made through various interpretation activities such as decipher, reinterpretation, subsumption under contractual provision or rule of law. The essay reveals a consensus regarding the civil law area regarding classification of sham transaction. On the tax law area, there is however a disagreement about what is meant by “the real meaning “, which criterion that should be used and how they should be assessed.

In response to the question, an adequate classification cannot be made if one does not take into account all the facts that are relevant. For the interpretation, I believe that both the civil law aspects and the economic character must be considered. Most likely, a statutory regulation will be needed, going forward, due to changes in people's buying habits. The German Law BGB section 117 may be an example of how this could be instituted in Swedish law.

Design optimization for obtaining zero defects in steel casting2019Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This thesis is about the design of the gating system and selection of proper alloy for defects free (grate bar) casting. The gating system plays an important role in casting manufacturing process. The gating system has different elements like pouring cup, sprue, well, runner, riser, and ingates. The function of the gating system is to provide molten metal to the mould cavity through different gating system elements.  Casting is a metal shaping process which is used to produce a cast component. The casting process depends upon the material, type of pattern, mould and various techniques like sand casting, investment casting, die casting, squeeze casting and lost foam casting. The sand mould casting process is used in this report. The casting process is used for making small to large cast parts, complicated shapes, and precision parts, etc. Making a casting without defects is an important requirement for its strength. The effective and efficient design of the gating system is necessary for making defects free castings. There are various defects like shrinkage cavity, porosity, pinholes, blowholes and incomplete filling that may occur in sand casting. The simulation software like Magma Soft and Nova Flow Solid are used to predict the possible defects in the casting. The uses of the simulation improve product quality and increase productivity. It also helps to reduce the rejection rate by identifying and controlling defects. This work is done at AB Bruzaholms Bruk as part of master thesis work at Jönköping University, Sweden. The company provides all the necessary data for simulation purposes. The design of the gating system is finalized as per company requirements and needs. The research questions that have been answered in this report based on the following points. 1) What does zero-defect mean? 2) Which is the best design among the ones that are prepared and simulated? 3) Which is the best alloy combination for casting parts that give defects free casting and better fluidity and filling?
